For pets: I saw a fun video this morning of a great dane lounging in a hammock, content as could be. Master wished for video of how he got in it in the first place.

I saw a photo of a great dane whose legs were trapped in a hammock, standing up. Looked like he tried to get in and his legs slipped through!

This makes me wonder what other repurposing people have done. Mine is less creative, though not terribly reverent: my dining room furniture is from a church...a huge cupboard once for vestments and host and such, is now my drinks cabinet, a side board for cups and goodness else knows what holds our crockery. Even less reverently, our kitchen bench is an altar. I cannot find light shades I like that I can afford so I put mobiles up around the lights recently not that elegant, but I do not look at the bulb now. Other repurposed furniture is just furniture like that in the 'wrong' rooms used for the 'wrong' job that works well practically or aesthetically for us. I really like the idea of repurposing some things though.

Most of ours is minor, like an old door turned into a sewing table, a computer desk turned into my torching workbench, and a computer armoire (nifty fold-out desk and keyboard support) is my glass and bead storage cabinet and assembly workbench. Oh! Also in my studio are two sturdy, wooden Ikea lazy Susans that I used for my small parts tins that hold various colors of glass powder and enamels. Then there's those "ice tubes" ice mold trays (to make ice that fits in sports bottles). I use them to store my hand-pulled very thin glass strands.

By the end of the week our current bedroom TV armoire will also be in my studio to store my fabric and fiber, and we'll be getting a new console-style cabinet which is wider but shallower, because Master wants a bigger TV that will be wall mounted. Kinda like magic square with furniture, huh? Now I just need to figure out where to put my guitars...

We have a large old linen cupboard that we got from the previous owners of an appartement we used to live in, because they thought it was to difficult to move.
We have used it over the years to store most everything except linen.
Now it's mostly gutted and our TV and sound system live in it.

We have benches with fitted bins on wheels under them that IKEA intended for kid's rooms. We use them as extra seating and storage in the dining room.

We use book cases with doors to store glasses, plates etc in the dining room, because the storage space in our kitchen is too small.

So, on a frivolous note, G is about to have some time off. More time off than we have had for.....almost a decade. At least a fortnight. Its a good time to have time off because there is plenty to do, but we have also talked about factoring in some actual leisure activities. We aren't sure what. But apart from sex and chores......we are kind of stuck for leisure stuff to do which is a bit sad. Dog walking and gardening etc sort of straddles both chore and leisure. I expect we could go to the cinema, ( yawn......) and we have tickets to a concert.....but we are lacking on frivolity.

Wow, I'm actually getting to use this same last twice in a single day?

Have your tried kicking yourself out of your usual patterns?
Go to an art museum. Ride the bus. Sit on a corner for an hour and people watch. Eat at a soul food restaurant. Sleep in the living room, or better yet, on the balcony. Call wrong numbers and ask silly questions or make ridiculous blurts. Go to the library when you have the hiccups. You know, stuff you wouldn't normally do. Try it! It's fun !

These are all ridiculous suggestions. Really, don't do them But you get the idea. Time off is awesome! Enjoy!

No places you always wanted to go visit or used to go visit before but never do now?
Some town nearby where you could go play tourists?

Mmmm, BIG, and furry. Imagine what the purr would sound like.

G and I think the animals probably think of us not as 'mummy/ daddy' or pack leader or any such thing, but 'ah, sweeeeet, its the Big Slows! humour them, they'll do that cute thing where they run around the garden in that hopeless way, make that sweet chattering noise'

And the most important thing...
Hand out food!!
