I dn't understand the amusement here. Are people saying its not normal for animals to take calls? I must chat with mine about using Skype less.

The cat we had when I was a kid used to push the receiver off the phone if it kept ringing a lot when she was home alone. Sometimes she would meow into the receiver.
Some poor soul actually "played along", thinking it was one of us kids playing and then felt horribly stupid having spent time talking to the cat.
