Nine of Stephen Colbert's staffers were arrested by Capitol Police on Thursday night after allegedly illegally entering a building where US House of Representatives work. They were subsequently charged with illegal entry to House office buildings after hours.

As FOX News reports, the group entered the building after it shut its doors to visitors, and proceeded to take pictures and videos near the offices of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Rep. Lauren Boebert.

Capitol Police released a statement on the matter:

"On June 16, 2022, at approximately 8:30 p.m., U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) received a call for a disturbance in the Longworth House Office Building," they said, revealing that the members of Colbert's team were "unescorted and without Congressional ID, in a sixth-floor hallway."

"The building was closed to visitors, and these individuals were determined to be a part of a group that had been directed by the USCP to leave the building earlier in the day," the statement continued. "They were charged with Unlawful Entry. This is an active criminal investigation, and may result in additional criminal charges after consultation with the U.S. Attorney."

My my, imagine leftists illegally entering the capitol building. Will they be held in solitary confinement for a year without charges and no bail?

It's been almost 24 hours so it's not "breaking" and if they violated any laws, they should have been arrested.

See how that works? Probably not. ;)

They were arrested. The question is will they be treated the same as others who have spent a year in jail for "trespassing" in the Capitol Building without authorization.

They should be treated the same as anyone with a comparable record.

Weird.....champy brought this up in another thread yet hasnt said a word on this one. It seemed very important to him.

Yes, I said that they should have been arrested as they were. The point is that you started yet another thread where you have zero facts and just wanted to compare trespassing to an insurrection.

The difference here was they weren't wanting to stop or interfere with the process of government like the insurrecionists on Jan 6 were. These people just wanted photos after the time the could've.

The intent makes all the difference.

Not if you have a certain narrative. Binary is all you need

How do you know what the motivation was? They were filming themselves beating on the office doors of Republican Representatives. They were in that office space for hours before being caught and arrested, all without proper authorization. The were let into the building by Reps. Adam Schiff (D-CA) and Jake Auchincloss (D-MA). Who knows how this video was going to be used or exploited by propagandists in the Democrat Party and the media as the popularity and legitimacy of the J6 hearing are waning across the nation. The intent has nothing to do with it, just like it has nothing to do with those jailed for simply being near the Capitol on J6.

It doesn't matter what their motivation was. They did not obstruct or even impede Congressional order, certainly much less Constitutionally OBLIGATED order. Nor were they calling out for violence against the Speaker of the House nor the Vice President.

But other than all of those things, it was.exactly the same...and the violence against police and vandalism to government property also

Federal prosecutors have declined to prosecute members of a production team associated with Stephen Colbert's late-night comedy show who were arrested last month on Capitol Hill.

A production team involved with The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, which airs on CBS, had been charged with unlawful entry and had a court date set for this week after being arrested by Capitol Police while filming segments for cigar-smoking puppet Triumph the Insult Comic Dog handled by comedian Robert Smigel.

CBS acknowledged last month that a production team involved in filming segments for cigar-smoking puppet Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, handled by comedian Robert Smigel, was detained

When you're a Democrat propagandist and you break into the Capitol Building you do not face consequences. It's not the same for other Americans, even those who didn't break in on J6 but were let in by the Capitol Police go to jail if they were Republicans.

They didn't "break in" dipshit. Break in references a physical action. They were in the Capital, they left their guide...but we all know you are tooooo fucking stupid to note the difference than crossing/fighting to get through established police lines.
It's not the same for other Americans,
Yes it is, but again you're to fucking stupid to understand this.

Yah right, in your wild imagination the above is true......what a fucking moron you are, wrongway.....*chuckles* but as always the piece of shit known as "rightguide" delivers the laughs......

The real difference is Democrats and their supporters can trespass in the Capitol building and bang on the doors of Republican Representatives without authorization from the Capitol Police. A rule that must be followed by all other people in the United States. because we have a two-tiered system of justice that favors the left.

All rules apply

To some

Not all
The first order of business in 2023, remove Merrick Garland from office.

Let’s see, on one hand there’s some rioters let in by Capitol police who went on to vandalize and steal. On the other hand we have some entertainers sneaking around filming for a silly segment.

Book ‘em, Dano! And then throw it at ‘em!
