Colbert has a staff of 200 people??!

TikTokers are producing better content on a cell phone, alone.
I'm sure all of the tweenage girls on TikTok appreciate your subscription. Don't worry, in just a few short years, they will have an OnlyFans.

Surprised Colbert’s show wasn’t cancelled long ago. It was losing $40 million a year and had terrible ratings.
I generally watch the openings, most of them about the felon. Funny stuff. Then I switch to other news. Yeah, guess he has bad ratings that caused his show to be shut down, or maybe it had to do with his network selling him out to seal a deal on a merger. One that needed FCC approval? :devilish:

The federal approval of the sale might have been a factor but I doubt it. Larry Ellison’s son is on the acquisition side and Trump likes Larry.

From everything I’ve read, the late night tv model is running out of steam. What worked for the likes of Ed Sullivan and Johnny Carson doesn’t work in the age of streaming media and social media. And those pioneers preceded the era of political division we have today.

Colbert’s show had the highest ratings in its time slot.

Was canceling Stephen Colbert’s ‘Late Show’ really about money? The numbers don’t entirely back it up.

The sudden end for the show, which will air its last episode in May, came as a surprise to most media-industry watchers and raised suspicions among some that it is the result of political pressure, following Paramount’s recent agreement to pay President Donald Trump $16 million to settle a lawsuit in which he accused CBS of deceptively editing an interview with Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris last year.

Most legal experts considered the lawsuit baseless and that the settlement came under pressure.

After Paramount reached the agreement, Colbert expressed his displeasure with the deal, calling it a “big fat bribe.” Two days later, Colbert’s show was canceled.

It takes a lot of people to run a TV show. Nothing implausible about the numbers.

Bring back Sesame Street. It will ramp up revenue and provide late-night kids something worthwhile to watch. ;):whistle::nana:

President Lawfare has struck a deal and the program was the sacrifice.

Trump took a $16 million bribe from CBS/Paramount, and the MAGA sheep love it. They think a president who is openly for sale is cool.

Mr. Colbert has 2.4 million viewers most nights—less than 1% of the country. It’s a tiny fraction of Carson’s viewership at a time when the nation was smaller. The Late Show’s audience has fallen more than 30% in the past five years, and even more among the critical 18- to 49-year-old demographic. Mr. Colbert’s operation reportedly costs north of $100 million annually, and hemorrhaged $40 million last year, nearly half being the host’s salary.

“Political content with a splash of comedy isn’t exiting the stage; it retains a narrow but deep audience. That’s why “Gutfeld!,” the Fox evening show that also doesn’t attempt to persuade or entertain beyond its core audience, has a significantly larger viewership than the Late Show. But it does so on cable, not pretending to be a part of a broadcast common culture.

Donnie took a $16 million bribe from CBS/Paramount, and you think it’s great that he’s so easy to buy, because you’re a sheep.

Never watched his show.. just didn’t intrest me
Since Johnny Carson quit late night tv has suffered

You’ll get over your misery eventually.

Funny enough, when a show is cancelled that I never watch, I don't notice nor care.
Apparently I should've created multiple threads on political forums.

It was a political TV program. This is a politics board.

It is a talk show and the host had a political monologue.

Also, if you didn't like it, you should create multiple threads about it.

As an example - I have obviously made multiple threads about Gutfred's Fox show. 👍
