Colbert has a staff of 200 people??!

Surprised Colbert’s show wasn’t cancelled long ago. It was losing $40 million a year and had terrible ratings.
I generally watch the openings, most of them about the felon. Funny stuff. Then I switch to other news. Yeah, guess he has bad ratings that caused his show to be shut down, or maybe it had to do with his network selling him out to seal a deal on a merger. One that needed FCC approval? :devilish:

The federal approval of the sale might have been a factor but I doubt it. Larry Ellison’s son is on the acquisition side and Trump likes Larry.

From everything I’ve read, the late night tv model is running out of steam. What worked for the likes of Ed Sullivan and Johnny Carson doesn’t work in the age of streaming media and social media. And those pioneers preceded the era of political division we have today.

Colbert’s show had the highest ratings in its time slot.

Was canceling Stephen Colbert’s ‘Late Show’ really about money? The numbers don’t entirely back it up.

The sudden end for the show, which will air its last episode in May, came as a surprise to most media-industry watchers and raised suspicions among some that it is the result of political pressure, following Paramount’s recent agreement to pay President Donald Trump $16 million to settle a lawsuit in which he accused CBS of deceptively editing an interview with Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris last year.

Most legal experts considered the lawsuit baseless and that the settlement came under pressure.

After Paramount reached the agreement, Colbert expressed his displeasure with the deal, calling it a “big fat bribe.” Two days later, Colbert’s show was canceled.

Bring back Sesame Street. It will ramp up revenue and provide late-night kids something worthwhile to watch. ;):whistle::nana:
