I protest all the time (to those few who care) that green "tea" is not tea. It's brewed similarly to tea, and is a hot liquid drink, but it is not tea.ABSTRUSE said:I'm not into green tea, too weak for me.

I feel the same way about "white" chocolate.perdita said:I protest all the time (to those few who care) that green "tea" is not tea. It's brewed similarly to tea, and is a hot liquid drink, but it is not tea.
"Tea" should refer to one of two plant genera: the Camellia Sinensis from China, Tibet or Japan, or the Camellia Assamica from North East India. There are hybrids of course but "green tea" is not one.
Nor is chamomile, raspberry or licorice "tea". They are just boiled green, red or yellow leaves and stems.

I've had some Jamacian blue Mountain coffee. I would rate it right up there with mississippi river mud for flavor and coloring. Truly something you could float a horseshoe in.
Right on, babe. I never got that. P.ABSTRUSE said:I feel the same way about "white" chocolate.![]()
It depends on your definition of 'tea'.perdita said:I protest all the time (to those few who care) that green "tea" is not tea. It's brewed similarly to tea, and is a hot liquid drink, but it is not tea.

Yes....smartie!cloudy said:anything else would be basically useless.
please tell me you recognize that song from the Jerk...
That's the crux of it, Vellala. Tea used to refer to the plants I mention above. Later (and I blame the hippies!) the word came to refer to other hot beverages. P.vella_ms said:It depends on your definition of 'tea'.
I've always thought of tea as a beverage made by steeping leaves ect. in hot water...not by its particular plant.
