I always look at profiles, especially people who pique my interest. I don’t really go beyond that other than their most recent posts. I mostly wing it. But I do enjoy reading profiles. I find them facinating.

Mostly by chance. Occasionally look at someone’s posts but more often I go to favorite threads and see what’s going on there

I check out most people I see posting a lot. Just to get a sense of whether they’re really funny or I’m just seeing the one time they were, or to make sure they’re not some closeted homophone or something, or that they don’t have any major meltdowns, or have super shitty taste in music. I don’t know. I don’t really search out their threads and stuff just get a vibe from the recent posting history since even when I was super active here I knew I was only catching a fraction of what folks were up to.

I do check my newsfeed for people I follow. Don’t always go there since there are threads I know friends post in that I don’t give a shit a bout but yeah, where people I like are is where conversations I like are most likely to happen. There’s a couple folks who don’t have their posts public and I do track them via their profile. I think they know this.

I said, I think they know this. But also I sorta figure everyone should expect people are doing so.

I will say before I decide if I'm going to like them I take a peek at those things just to get an idea of what they are like. Past posts are crucial - the rest is just interesting.

I hope my answer doesn't make me sound like an asshole. I don't have time to Lit like I used to and even then I was much more posty than lurky. I come here to be active, do and post and I am really bad about waiting on my friends to come to where I am. I used to look at the News Feed or surf the main forums but now I mostly just look at my "followed" threads (unless I go on a thread bumping tear). This means, for better or worse I miss most the drama, but I also miss a lot of the fun stuff too. I feel quite out of the Larger Lit Loop so now I just try not to cluelessly stomp through the middle of something intense.

Whenever I do realize I'm being a little hermity I will go catch up on their activities - like their posts and pictures - and I reckon they can tell by there notifications. So is it even stalking if the other person knows? I don't have a person actively posting so I don't really have a reason to look our for little easter eggs so anything for me sometimes needs a nudge or I'll miss it entirely.

No, I like to see unexpected people and I really love when I can tell someone stalked someone else to one of my threads. It's kind of fun to see how the waves wash people up on different shores.

I think different people have different capacities for memory but I don't really think it's gendered. In my personal experience, the men in my life have had infinitely better memories than me.

I think this is the stereotypical idea of people. Most men I know are far more catty and petty and messy than they get credit for! And WAY more likely to hold a grudge. I have too much to think about to replay things like that for long - this is also a total reaction to having a mother who held on to everything.

Yes. I remember running into some high school friends about 15 years after leaving town and they were talking about shit that happened when we were kids and I was like “wtf”.

No. I think people remember what’s important to them and since that varies from person to person the memories are different and or absent. There was some interesting research a while ago about crime witnesses. The general idea is that human memory is shitty and highly malleable.

I think the “winner” of a guy fight is more likely to let it go because they won. The “loser” is more likely to remember because they need to build their self back up. But who knows, I’m an Econ guy, not a sociologist.

It’s self preservation. Stepping outside that self preservation and recognizing that sometimes we’re the villain is healthy.

Depends on the level of emotion. High levels of emotion will most definitely distort memories. From a complete black out to minor details given extreme significance.
