Clumsy Rip-Off

I sent a complaint to the "Abuse" email address listing at the ISP. I suggest that we all do. The more (civil, clear, and well-supported) complaints they get, the more clear it will be that the site is plagiarizing. If they don't act on it, then the volume of complaints may also help to convince them that the site is more trouble than it's worth.

In addition - call in a complaint if you're able to. This is where unlimited long distance comes in handy. I haven't been rude yet to them, but I have been very clear that I am calling in reference to this particular site, and that there will be legal consequences if something is not done about this pilfering.

If you are calling in the complaint - have the following within easy reach:

The information as to when your story was posted on Lit.

Plagiarism statutes, and the definition of plagiarism, because these guys seem a little slow.

A contact name, number, and email address for them to get in touch with you. If you have a lawyer that handles your business, their name and contact information. Having your lawyer call them is even better. :D

Try to get a name and address to send a certified letter of complaint to. This gives you an actual record of the fact that you did indeed give them notice that they were aiding and abetting what amounts to fraud if they prove stubborn enough to go to court.

((Oh, btw, Alex, I went ahead and alerted the EF and the GB... you'd be surprised how many of the GB'ers were snagged. :p They're vicious about it too, lol.))

As the starter of this thread I too have emailed the 'Abuse' address. Aptly named, innit? At the moment I have a warm feeling of solidarity, brothers and sisters.

GB'ers involved, too? These people don't know what they're messing with!

Alex

*sigh* I got a PM from a friend. They snagged one of mine, perhaps more. But they took the whole thing it looks like.

Doing a little checking here and there, it looks like that site is a total ripoff of Lit. I don't think there is any story that isn't from Lit.

I'll look more throughly later when I have the time. I'm off to dinner with my daughter. Does Laurel need a PM from every person ripped off? I'd hate to flood her PM box. *sigh*

I would think, considering it's massive theft from Lit, that Laurel and Manu are probably already working on it. I did tell her when I contacted her last month that it was wholescale theft ripped straight from the site, and I'm pretty sure she responded.

There are even stories ripped from Challenge Club - an AH thread of some eighteen months ago. They have the nerve to acknowledge so in the header to the story. Some balls or complete idiots.

I didn't see those... where?

Maybe we can match up the stories to their authors, and send each author feedback saying : Hey, look, this site ripped your story off Lit, you need to PM Laurel so she can add it to the list of complaints.

I know there are a lot of authors who don't participate in the boards, and they have no idea what's going on. This would be a good public service for them?

And yes, I went back and checked my pms and Laurel did reply, agreed that it was definitely blantant theft from Lit and said they'd get on it, so I don't know that bombarding her with pms will help any. However, I'm sure bombarding the ISP probably would.

Yeah but it would take forever. They've got thousands of stories over there. Just finding my own was a pain.
I've been doing the email thing with Jeff from the ISP; just sent an email with links to each stolen story on lit, as well as links from the stories on the other site.

Here you are Crim

Possession
This is a response to a writing challenge given in the Author’s Hangout on Literotica. The challenge: To write a piece of Erotic Horror, less than 1000 words, including “Tony, a respectable businessman by day, a sexual deviant at night; a bouquet of black roses; and the phrase “Please don’t put that in there.” I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

This is their heading to a story they title possession. A CC item I'm almost sure.

By the way, let's all thank Alex for bringing this to our attention. Seriously, I needed to know that. Those pricks have got lawsuit written all over them!
Absofuckinglutely thank you Alex!!
The bastards got all three of my stories.
Should everyone who's had their stuff ripped PM Laurel?

So far they have all of my anal stories and at least one of my erotic horror stories. I haven't checked the others yet, but I wouldn't be surprised to find a huge number more.

I did, just in case.

I think they said that Laurel's on it. I hope so.

I did email the ISP, haven't gotten a response, and I've left several phone messages to the Abuse department... I did get through at one point. :D I was nice, I swear.

I mailed the first three authors in the Erotic Coupling cat, to let them know.

And guess what? these bastards went through and simply ripped everything off the Hot Listed stories. They didn't do it by highest rating, they did it by highest read count. Apparently it was done a while back (longer than three months) because they didn't have Haunted in the Erotic Horror cat. So anything that went H in the last month or so should be safe.

The Got a few of Mine

They stole Three of my stories from Gay Male:

I Hate You
I Hate You (Justin's Side)
Moving On

how rude!

Actually, the Hot rating is a combination of having a score of 4.5 or better and at least 10 votes. :D

The 'Possession' story I mentioned above is Chicklet's, not Cloudy's by the same name. Is Chicklet around still?

Then maybe it was just the Most read... that was the list that matched the list on their site.

I can't believe it....

My story was actually on there as well...it must have been a slow day for good stories over here when they took mine! They didn't even bother to correct my spelling errors.
I also found my 1st story I got published here on one of those really obnoxious sites that grab your computer and won't let go. (What's up with sites that do that? It's not like the people who go to them won't be back!) I'm not going back in THERE today.
