What, as between different species of Galapagos finches? Nonsense.

A quote from "The Descent of Man", in a chapter called "The Races of Man.", in which Darwin wrote:
"At some future period not very distant as measured by centuries, the civilised races of man will almost certainly exterminate and replace the savage races throughout the world. At the same time the anthropomorphous apes...will no doubt be exterminated. The break between man and his nearest Allies will then be wider, for it will intervene between man in a more civilised state, as we may hope, even than the Caucasian, and some ape as low as the baboon, instead of as now between the Negro or Australian and the gorilla" (1874, p. 178).

In 1989, Carl Sagan provided updates to his TV series Cosmos (1980). Here is what he added to episode 4:

Just starting with one item:

"Three: reforestation on a grand scale."

Just how is that to be accomplished without a form of genocide never before to be seen on the face of the earth?

Before that process is even started in the industrialized world should we start with declaring that all of the Amazon basin is off limits? And if the population density of the indigenous tribes exceeds a certain limits we should "cull" the population. Is it your, and Sagan's, notion that these peoples should be denied the benefits of civilization for your own benefit? If so that would make you both self-centered little bitches cloaking yourself in the masquerade of 'saving the planet.' Get a clue sparky, the planet will still be here long after we're gone. You, and Sagan's. concern have nothing to do with saving the planet, only your own miserable asses. He's dead and like it or not you're soon to follow.

Me? I'm a social Darwinist. I make no effort to impose my beliefs on others in the name of some "greater good" to mask that in reality I'm just a pansy assed latter day dictator.

If a culling of the litter is going to occur, you and your ilk are near the top of my list, not the Amazon basin aborigine.

Not to mention, if you drastically cut back on carbon dioxide in the air, what are these plants going to breathe?

We'll send the politicians to the forest. Ample CO2 and the hot air will abate any freezes.

Easily. Most deforested regions are uninhabited or sparsely inhabited.

Well, they came close.

None of that makes his theory based on racism.

Hey, all three stooges are here now.

Trees do not need CO2, and deciduous trees do quite well all winter without any.

Humans need O2, which trees get from water. Useful for brain function.

Trees also sequester the evil pollutant, CO2, converting it into carbohydrstes.ike maple syrup...and tbe tree bark that gives you cinnamon for your toast.

Humans, out of ignorance and carelessness of their actions' effects on the environment. Take a lesson from that.

So, "ignorance" caused people to clear forests to make farmland in order to grow food?

Maybe in Phrodeau's (singular, still unnamed) "science book" it explains how to support an ignorant, growing, indigenous population in the face of declining animal population using co2-free tree bark.

Dr. Richard Lindzen has sent a petition to President Trump, asking the President to withdraw the United States from the United Nations Convention on Climate Change.

The petition contains the names of around 300 eminent scientists and other qualified individuals, including physicists, engineers, former Astronauts, meteorologists, immunology specialists, marine biologists, chemists, statisticians, doctors, military weather specialists, geologists, accountants, a former director of NASA, economists, soil specialists, mathematicians, hydrologists, environmental scientists, computer modelling specialists, and many more. It is a long list...

Uh, huh.

Wikipedia.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

Next.

"National and international science academies and scientific societies have assessed current scientific opinion on global warming. These assessments are generally consistent with the conclusions of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. The IPCC Fourth Assessment Report stated that:"

The links to those scientific bodies were all there.

The ignorance is over-farming - not farming for food.

You cant do any significant farming unti you knock the trees down.

You cannot get the yields we do in America without chemical fertilizers. You can't get chemical fertilizers without utlizing a lot of energy. Which of course is going to cause Frodo's global warming. Why do you want to build chemical plants in the Amazon?

Yes. Ignorance of where it would eventually lead -- desertification.

No one is recommending reforestation of land now under cultivation. OTOH, there is a lot of land that could be cultivated but isn't for lack of demand; that could be reforested.
