Clever Republicans.

No we want to discuss clever Republicans and celebrate their opportunistic grasp of current events.

They must have moved swiftly to produce the ads at just the right time.

It is commonly accepted that global temperatures and climate have varied considerably over the course of the earth's six billion year existence. Decomposing, attributing and apportioning that part of climate change that has occurred over the last two hundred-odd years into that which is natural variation and that which is human-caused is no mean feat. It is an immensely complex undertaking fraught with chance for error.

"...fraught with chance for error."

Why in the fuck would anyone in their right mind not want to err on the side of caution?

You Cons treat everything like a fucking game...winning is all that counts. If you can yell them down, that’s a win. If you can claim to be right even when you know you're wrong, that's still a win. If you have to lie and cheat, that's okay, still a win. It's fucking Texas-Oklahoma, Michigan-Ohio State, Duke-Carolina--just a fuckin game.

Only problem with your fuckin games is that real people get hurt. You've killed tens of thousands in the last eight years and broke the whole fuckin world, but you still carry on your bullshit.

You are unconscionable.

Yes, snow and cold is evidence of Global Warming.

Reminds me of the words of a famous author. What was his name? Oh yeah, George Orwell:

WAR IS PEACE, FREEDOM IS SLAVERY, and IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH.

That sounds about right. Rock on, my liberal pinhead friends!......Carney

Listen to Rush, Polly--he'll teach you some more words and give you some Oxycontin too. Want another cracker?

'War is peace, hot is cold, up is down..."

You may be on to something!

In the paper on Friday it revealed how the labor Department under-counted unemployment by 1.2 million jobs during 2008-2009. The real job loss is 8.4 million NOT 7.2 million. Then at 9AM the Labor Department released the unemployment numbers claiming unemployment dropped to 9.7%. I'm still doing the math on this revelation cuz the numbers just dont add up, but UP IS DOWN makes it work out!

Meanwhile, in the world of science rather than fiction...
Barber and more than 300 scientists from around the globe spent last winter on the Canadian Coast Guard research ship Amundsen in the Arctic, studying the impact of climate change.

Full story here. *Sigh*

Good Lord, how do you get 300 scientists on a small research ship?!

The global warming conspiracy to soak taxpayers is obvious to everyone but the Usual Suspects.

It's obvious that the biggest environmental destroyers feel least responsible for that.

Who cares ? World's still turning !

It's not my problem, the children will find a way, if it really happens.

Remembers me on how America once thought about people like OBL. OK, he's a bit agressive and America hostile, who cares, as long as he fights the russians. If he really attacks us, we will get him and do justice on him.

There's a much bigger conspiracy in taking all those things not that serious.

POPPING TOM

I learned an important lesson when I was 21. Nothing gets done unless you do it yourself. And 99.99% of people are in the game for the money. These are absolutes that guarantee fame and fortune: DO IT YOURSELF & YOU HAVE NO FRIENDS.

The above may be the single largest and most astounding assembly of ( incorrect ) assertions I think I've ever encountered in a single post in all my time on this website. It is breathtaking in its simplemindedness. Do you always jump to conclusions? Do you always shoot your mouth off with absolutely no idea of what you are talking about?

It's simply not worth the time to detail the massive flaw in your logic. Do you have any comprehension of the consequences should civilization suddenly and unilaterally decide to abandon scientific method in favor of instantaneous and unquestioning acceptance of the hypothesis du jour?

Do you understand scientific method? Do you understand that there is a difference between science and politics? Do you understand that someone's skin color may not be a reliable indicator of their political beliefs? Do you comprehend that association is not causation? Do you believe in the Medieval Warm Period? Why can't you admit that human understanding of climate is, at best, modest if not downright primitive?

Yeah, America is famous for self-doing and no-friends-having and only the money and nothing else.

And I met a lot of people in my life telling me that it's all about the money and nothing else. Don't know why I always got the feeling they're losers or poor personalities.

I got a little hope as Robert X Cringely is an American, too, and writes that "being in the game only because you want your fucking money isn't the right attitude" and that of 20 company founds 19 fails, "the half of stupidity, a quarter of having no luck and a quarter of greed". But there are still American influenced people telling me, greed is a good thing, as it drives the society. Well, it does, but the most greedy are the first to fall, that's my experience, too.

Anyway, continue making the world a worse place, because, you know, it's the money, nothing else.

All that yelling and throwing thousands of words of Fundie Con shit on the wall, just helped prove my point.

I repeat. Responsible men err on the side of caution when faced with a possible catastrophe, but you Cons don't--you just want to win.

To reward their oil buddies, your guys ran the price of oil to $147.00 per barrel, the highest in history, triggering a global economic crisis, and started a war for oil on a lie that killed tens of thousands of civilians, not to mention soldiers. Yet you defend them.

You are unconscionable.

You're absolutely right; I'm a part time mass murderer. I drop napalm on old people and I operate concentration camps. I'm a cross between Satan, Mao Zedong (Tse-tung), Stalin and Pol Pot. Your deductive powers are amazing. I have just two questions for you: (1) how did you discover my true identity and (2) whaddya think about that ol' Medieval Warm Period?

The Medieval Warming Period has nothing to do with my point. It was a thousand years ago and there are conflicting opinions as to its severity and whether it was regional or global.

My point is that, with a possible catastrophe facing us or our children, it is only prudent to err on the side of caution and treat the threat as real.

The subject is too serious for game playing even on an obscure porn site. Your voice affects others.

The overwhelming majority, like 90%, of the world’s scientist today believe that the earth is warming and that it is human related. Hell, almost 50% of the scientists working for the petroleum industry agree.

For a layman to publicly argue against Global Warming is more than irresponsible, it is unconscionable

Perhaps the climate change deniers would do better if they were honest about their motives, which have nothing to do with science.

Their objections are political. They believe that any evidence of climate change is based on politics and their denial is also based on politics.

The local weather bureau cant get the temps right or guess how much rain is gonna fall or predict hurricanes, etc. It remains pretty much a stick your head out the window and see sort of business. So I dont place much faith in perfessers trying to read tea leaves about the distant future.

Horseshit. You are the worst offender at interjecting politics rather than discuss the putative science.

The Medieval Warming Period has nothing to do with my point. It was a thousand years ago and there are conflicting opinions as to its severity and whether it was regional or global.

My point is that, with a possible catastrophe facing us or our children...

It's incredible that anyone can assert the existence or non-existence of the Medieval Warm Period has no bearing. You claim there's warming. What's your reference point? When self-appointed high priests run around denying the Medieval Warm Period, using words like "catastrophe" and refusing to admit humanity's lack of understanding of the climate, I'd call that obfuscating the lack of science underlying the AGW hypothesis.

It betrays an unscientific attitude, a weak case and an unwillingness to explain contrary evidence ( which is, of course, the ENTIRETY of the paleoclimatological record ).

I have repeatedly raised questions about the AGW hypothesis in this thread that have never been addressed.

The fact that CO2 levels have risen does not explain changes in temperature. It's one thing to speculate; it's another thing to prove cause and effect. That hasn't been done. Warming isn't proof that greenhouse gases caused the warming. Association is not causation.

No one has explained the increase in levels of CO2. Isotopic analysis suggests the origin of only a small portion ( a third or less ) of the rise but the remainder is completely unexplained. The modelers and the theorists haven't had the intellectual honesty to admit that they do not understand the climate system. Trenberth finally did ( but only sotto voce in one of his now-famous whistleblown East Anglia emails ).

Climatology is too full of members unwilling to confess that the field's understanding of earth's climate is, at best, primitive. From lapse rates to climate sensitivity to the role of the very largest greenhouse gas, unknowns abound.

The paleoclimatological record confirms that much higher levels of CO2 did not produce a planetary hothouse. For the past half million years, temperature changes preceded CO2 levels. If CO2 was a major driver, temperatures would have risen indefinitely in a runaway greenhouse effect. They didn't. Either some unknown factor stops the runaway greenhouse effect or CO2 is a minor force. In either case, CO2 is trivial.

Okay, how about discussing the putative science of depleting our fossil fuel resources before we have other safe and renewable energy sources in place?

Or how about discussing the relationship between the money we spend on oil and the money that supplies the terrorist organizations that want to turn the USA into an Islamic state?

Or how about discussing the political ramifications of allowing other countries to lock up the green energy technology market, turning the USA into a runner up in the world economy.

Or how about discussing the wisdom of ignoring the scientific consensus of the world's greatest minds in favor of crackpot theories funded by the energy industry?

In this context, Trysail, I think you will find yourself in an untenable political position, supporting policies that are detrimental to the future of this great country. In other words, whether or not GW is caused by the actions of man is not the issue, the issue is applying logic to the way we approach energy use - something I have yet to see you do.

Let's burn plump Usual Suspects at our power plants.

Sounds Republican to me?

Not sure if these are all Repug's but if Rudy wants a piece of the pie, it must be.

"Alaska Legislature Plans $1.5 Million Astroturf Fight Against Endangered Species Act"

-That same year, Republican state Rep. John Harris proposed putting on a conference for climate change skeptics to fight the polar bear decision. "We want to have the money to hire scientists to answer the Interior (Department) scientists," he said at the time.-

Yep, Repignican!

Now this is the Republican party we all knew and lo..., well maybe not?

"With some of the country's top Republicans at the fore of the effort to create a new conservative think tank in Washington, the American Action Network is almost sure to become a political force when it launches later this month."

Compared to the names of other right wing propaganda houses in Washington, well "American Action Network", or AAN is kind'a catchy.
