You’d think I would know this.

In looking through the site I saw a place an author can leave news, I think.

I can’t find it again or find how you would read another authors news. Was I seeing things? And if not, how is it accessed?

A private news feed? I've never heard about anything like this existing.

The way some authors post news to their followers is to update their bios, since that shows up as a notification to everyone who follows them. I do that, for example, but it's a pretty limited way of keeping in touch with your readers and I wish we had an actual feature for this.

Go to the authors you follow. There’s something called news updates.

Interesting. I have plenty in the Latest Works tab but nothing in the News Updates. Not even the changes to authors' bios appear here, it's just empty.

Maybe there is some hidden API endpoint that would allow you to actually post news there, but I don't see anything in the control panel UI, so it seems like a dead feature.

I've never noticed or paid attention to this. I just checked it, and there's no news from any of the over 100 authors I follow.

Pretty sure that author feed feature has been there (and silent) since 2024. It's not new, and there've been no announcements about it that I've noticed.

It feels like new news feed features have been trickling out more steadily in the last few months, so perhaps there's reason to hope?
