Hello lovey!chris 44 said:Here's a place you might like to visit :- http://www.sacredsites.com/europe/england/avebury.html
It's a place of great prace. Like Stonehenge, but here you can actually walk amongst the stones, touch them and talk to them. If you're lucky they'll even listen. Carnac in France used to be similar, but I've got a feeling much of it has been fenced off now.

Avebury... i've wanted to visit for years. A friend went to see it some time ago and told me she couldn't stand to go inside the outer circle. Too much power there for her.
If i ever get over there, you're being kidnapped and we'll do a grand tour of all the sites. See how many little beings come crawling from the woodworks.chris 44 said:But it's a calming power. I've got one stone that's 'MY' stone, about twelve in from the entrance gate. I just sit down, lean back on the stone, close my eyes and talk to the stone. Almost always it's to ask a favour for someone who really needs it, never for myself. But you can walk round the outer ring, see the coridor of stones heading away to Silbury Hill. If you ever get the chance to come over here, I'll take you there, that's a promise.

Oh feh. You would be my personal bodyguard.chris 44 said:If you ever do get over here, there'll be more things crawling out of the woodwork than you could shake a stick at. I wouldn't get a look in![]()
There are some amazing places in Ireland and Scotland as well, The Burren is an amazing place, but for me 'Ellan Vannin' (The Isle of Man) is the most magical of all, and their Celtic heritage is very strong.
Carnac is huge, but I never really got the same feeling of peace I get from Avebury. Somewhere I've got a photo of 'My Stone', if I can turn it up, I'll send you a copy.

Scheduling is always a problem. Good luck in finding a time to go. Take lots of pictures and share stories?TheEarl said:Bright blessings all. Trying to find time to make a trip to Glastonbury at some point. Trying to synchronise schedules with a Wiccan friend of mine is well nigh impossible!

Care to stuff me in a trunk and pretend you don't know about the stowaway?TheEarl said:A friend of mine lives near there and has promised to show me around. She used to run the local crystal shop in my city before she moved and knows her stuff, so I'd expect I'll have a few stories.

i've never been, but you SERIOUSLY need to shield yourself. If you start to feel sick, let whoever's with you know, and ask to stop. Keep yourself centered.MistressJett said:Here's a question for everyone - have any of you been to Auschwitz?
I'll be there within the next two weeks, and it's troubling me a bit. Having some Polish blood nudges me to believe that I need to go, although I'd previously been flip flopping. The thing is, I can be hypersensitive to spirits/energy and I know the vibes are going to be very hard to deal with.
My aunt is also a witch and has a friend who's been to Auschwitz. (She threw up.) Because of this, I know that there is a shrine area where you can light candles and the like. This is a big part of why I decided to go - I didn't want to be there and feel that energy if I couldn't do anything to try and help those tortured souls.
So, I guess my question is actually this: If you have been there, what would you note to a sensitive pagan planning on going?

Quite all right. Threadjacking is a given.hugo_sam said:If I may
While never seeing Auschwitz (it was still behind the 'Iron Curtain' when I was there) I did go to Bergan/Belson in The Netherlands.
It is moving, scary, horrifying in a way that cannot be described.
While B/B was totally burned by the British (because of desease) the is a memeorial and of course the mass graves of thousands upon thoursands.
I believe some of the original camp at A was either preserved or re-created.
I was probably many many times larger and more active than B/B.
I was with a group of Military guys and all were moved to tears/silence and quite a few left the site entirely to wait in the van.
I would approch with extreme caution or maybe reconsider going. IMHO
The horrors of A were many time multiplied that of B/B and it was overwhelming to say the very least.

Nice thread here, and even though I am not a Pagan, I am glad it was started and it should be a great comfort to many. Thanks. Sorry for the Threadjack.
