For me it’s not so much that government officials should be held to a higher standard, although I don’t disagree. That he is such a high profile individual and understands the risks he was taking, again indicates to me compulsive sexual behavior. That is not an excuse for his behavior, but a possible explanation. The risk for him is far greater than the risk for most of us. He could not control his behavior just like other elected officials who look for gay sex in a public men’s room, hit on male pages or get blow jobs in the Oval Office. If you they can’t control their sexual urges enough to be discrete, they are probably compulsive and therefore likely to repeat that behavior.
