cheap halloween costumes

any ideas? i've been invited to a party and i'm pretty broke. i thought about going as a heterosexual but i don't think i could pull it off

Several choices...

A witches costume... wear all black and find something as a cap.. you could make yourself sexy or not.

A chef.. get an apron or tie a white bed sheet about as one... then decorate something for a hat and carry a wooden spoon. (spoon could be used for spanking)

A nerd.. find mixmatched clothes, braid hair and find or make glasses.

There are so many more if you think about it. What you should do first is check your wardrobe and see what kind of image you want to set off for the evening.

thanks for the suggestions tulip. i've tried to figure out something based on the wardrobe i have, but ideas are not forthcoming. basically all i own are t-shirts and jeans, and those are almost all navy blue or black. not a whole lot of variety, and pretty difficult to make myself look noticably different than i usual do.

i'm hoping some lit members can tell me about cool costumes they've made up in the past

you could be a bag of jelly beans... wear a solid color tights and turtleneck, then wear a clear garbage bag filled with different colored balloons.

Or, just use purple balloons, wear green underneath, and you're a bag of grapes.

Go to a local GoodWill and buy some big, baggy clothes. And go as a clown or hobo. Very quick, easy and cheap.

This may already be a given, but have you thought of an old sheet that you don't use anymore, and cut a pair of eye holes out and go as a ghost?

Or you could dress all in red and green, go to a dollar store and pick up a santa hat and go as a helper/Mrs. Claus. Tis getting near the season afterall.

some artificial plastic ine (like 89 cents at a five~n~dime) to make a vine headpiece.

underneath the toga wear what your confortable with...like a white bodysuit and use gold and silver and white make up.

stitch a stuffed owl to your shoulder and go as Athena!

A Black Top And Then Cut Two Long White Lines Outta A White Sheet.

If clothing is a problem then why not do something that rely's more on make up

Wear all black- a skirt with boots would look cute, make a tail and a headband with ears and go as a cat. You could paint a little black triangle on your nose and put some whiskers on your face with black eyeliner.

One cheap costume was "Ugly Nake Guy" from friends.

Go as Charle Brown.

Why not shock people you know then

and put on a skirt or something very sexy from what you normally wear? So many things you can go as and you would be suprise what you come up with when you put something together. A costume does not always have to be a specific thing. Halloween seems to be a time to let your innibitions go out in public. Have fun with it. One Halloween party I went as a guest at a wedding. This is because I was at one previously. Just go and have fun and the rest will follow.
