And there's not a dry eye in the house. Well, not quite, but it is a lovely thing to watch.

Seriously, they look so happy and the blessing is a beautiful service.

Despite to constant jokes and ribbing (like us Brits do), I am very happy for them.

Hopefully they'll live happily ever after. :)

It was lovely and Camilla's hat was gorgeous. Although I don't know about that wheat looking thing she wore at the end there.

Hopefully the country will come to accept her. Must be so hard on her to not have the public's favor.

I really loved Diana, so this a little hard for me to watch.

But, she's dead, and now presumably Charles is happy and all is back to where it should have been all those years ago. I don't wish them any ill, but I do wish that Charles would eventually abdicate in favour of William.

I kinda feel a little bad for Camilla, though. There she is, marrying the Prince without a tiara, without the 'glass coach' and the 25 ft. train, no silk taffeta princess dress, no silk tulle veil...

...ah, well. She's in love, and it looks good on her.

You Brits have a long tradition of abusing your King’s mistresses.

Elector George, King George I, had two mistresses, one nicknamed “the Maypole” and the other, “the Elephant.”

The “Elelphant” was his illegitimate half-sister, so her bio would probably do well here on Lit.

I'm not a Prince Charles fan, but I do feel for him. Ok, so he has the land, the riches, the title and all the accompanying luxury, but I don't think he's had a particularly nice life.

He always seems to have ended up living his life under other people's command. He was desperately unhappy at the school his parents placed him in, but had to stick it out because it was what they wanted. He fell in love with a woman, but wasn't allowed to marry her. To make matters worse, as the next King of England he was expected to marry some desirable young woman and produce heirs to the throne.

Now, finally, it seems like he's got his slice of happiness, and I feel really glad for him. :)

hell, im so far removed from the whole thing. i never thought i would say it but, yes, i miss Diana. no matter what their problems, she did seem the decent sort...or atleast thats what the press over here led us to believe.
i wish them the best, though. so...grats or whatever it is that you peeps over there say.

My wife-to-be! Damn right.

(Bloody hell, you're a sight for sore eyes - and they're very sore, some weird shit's been going down in the GB tonight. Quite literally.)

When we're married I no longer want you slithering around the GB.

I've missed you too.

You'll have to use force to stop me.

I love that you are so easy.

I want French and Saunders as our bridesmaids...as well as Graham Norton.

Are we inviting Her Maj?

Only for you, sweet thing (well, almost only for you. :p)

I'll phone them and ask. I'm on first name terms with Dawn and Jen.

Of course! We need all the help we can get to add a touch of class to the proceedings.

Yep, and too much sunlight is no good either, is it?

Ok, well, Balmoral it is then! (If it's good enough for the royal couple, then it's good enough for us. ). Edited to add: we might have to break in and claim squatters rights, or something, but that shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Breaking and entering will add to the excitement...I just hope they are gone before we get there, I don't want to see either of them naked.

:rose: :rose: I am too, actually, although I am not a big fan of the prince. He treated Diana quite shabbily but he was in a situation not of his making. Anyhow, she came out of it quite well, or at least it would have been quite well if she hadn't been hounded to her death by papparazzi. I don't know if I spelled that right or not but I don't care enough to look it up.

By the way, is Charles referred to as "the heir apparent" or "the heir presumptive"?

Titles

I thought one of the greatest Englishmen of all time, Tom Paine, said it best when he wote, "Titles are like the circles of a magicians wand, drawn ever tighter and tighter to prevent man from knowing himself." ( I drew that from memory, so I may have paraphrased, but I think I got the gist of it. To an outsider, I'm an American, it seems like these royals know what they are but not who they are. It strikes me as a horrible way to live, gilded lilies, so to speak.

Hi Lou! :) How's things?

I have to say I loved the outfits Camilla wore, they suited her perfectly. :)

Do you know what the music was called that they played as the happy couple walked into the Chapel to their places? It was some kind of uplifting, light classical music and I can't for the life of me recall what it was.

I'll hunt it down. Thanks V-B, muchly appreciated. :rose:

It was a beautiful piece of music. :)
