Character sketches!

:: blink ::

I dunno why I haven't noticed this thread before, but when I did this morning, the thread title reminded me of my high school art class (which I barely passed). The assignment was to attempt a caricature of someone we all knew. Another student drew a picture of a top hat, tilted to show the inside from the bottom, and labeled it with the name of our much-detested assistant principal. The art teacher looked at it and then looked puzzled at the student, then raised an eyebrow in silent question. "Yep," the student said. "An empty hat."

The entire class erupted in laughter, and the art teacher had to turn around to hide her broad smile. Then she marked a big "A" on the drawing... and tore it into tiny pieces. (She knew how to cover her ass in those days of the 60s when administrators had more power than they do now.)

Awesome, that's hilarious.:D

As I sit here listening to Social Distortion, I realise that if I didn't like Rancid so much that I would gripe at you for calling a band that formed in '91 an old school punk band.

Homburg! Social Ds? You rock.

No i didn't mean Rancid were old school perse. I meant that I like old school punk but Rancid are still my faves, although Social Ds are a close contender.

Okay, I gotcha. Rancid is awesome. I've been digging on Armstrong's solo stuff lately. "A Poet's Life" has some killer tracks on it.

Old School punk, for me, is 70's, early 80's, and, thanks to 00Syd, MC5. (It boggles me that I've listened to, and dug, MC5 covers by various bands, but never took the time to listen to them myself. Same with Stiff Little Fingers.)

I honestly don't remember when I started listening to Social D. It's been that long. I do remember thinking, "Damn, where has this stuff been all my life?" :D

Heard the name once but cannot remember: there are 3 different type, they are tiny tropical fishes. The older kid wanted guppy but we ended up with these. I find them very cute. The snail we got them to eat up the algae on the glass and I have to say they do a very good job.

We used to have a gold fish the grew up to almost a foot long. Honestly I think that it was cuter when it was tiny, although at that big size it felt more like a pet.

ETA: running a quick google I think that some of the fishes are neon tetra.

We had two tetra when we got this fish tank, but one died. I suspect the angel fish got it, to tell the truth. I'm very careful now to make sure they get live food semi-regularly.
