Why is Mischka only interested in sitting on my lap when I'm on the computer? Why does she have to try and bite my fingertips when I pet her? Yesterday I was typing and she decided to lay down on the keyboard.

If I set her on the floor she just jumps back up - oh, and she just stuck her nose in my mouth.

I have a cat that is only interested in my attention when I am too busy or doing something that needs my full attention.

Most cats are that way, I have one at home that loves me all the time. She’s sort of like a dog.

Aha. Mischka is a cat!? I was going to ask Mischka where her nick came from in one of the "five question" spin -offs. My cat's name is Mischka too. It's not as common as say, "Mr. fluffy", so I thought I'd share. I don't always sound like Ralphie from The Simpson's, btw.

My mishcka does the lap at the computer thing too. She starts to squeak and make sheep sounds when I put her down. The sounds are creepy yet cute.

Cats only want to be wherever you are. They want to stand right where you're about to put your feet when you're walking. They want to sit in your chairs.

I think they're suicidal, and want to die by having the full weight of a human being come down on them, via a big butt or a big foot.

Someone awhile back provided me some insight that for me, at least, explains the phenomenon pretty well:

Dogs have owners/masters.

Cats have support staff.

My two kitties sit right beside the keyboard and watch the screen. Some days I swear they're reading the posts because they almost look like they're going to burst out laughing. But really I think they like the handsome kitty av's.

one time i was chatting with lisa over icq and the cat walked across the keyboard and typed a load of letters ... very annoying i think lisa thought i was having some kind of fit

but the cat purred away even when i put her back on the floor infact i think she jumped back onto the desk i usually let her stay on the desk in the end ... my cats more determined then me in winning battles of wills

Mischka has officially sold her soul.
Mischka can carry a huge computer monitor up five flights of stairs in 86 degree weather without her heart bursting.
Mischka can carry the huge monitor up the stairs as well as several other heavy boxes and then proceed to design and decorate your house.
Mischka would make a good dictator of a small country or a head of a large criminal orginization.
Mischka could sleep through the rapture.
