Here's my idea for a character (He could be an interesting mix with some of the others):

Name: Jasleth "Jas" Dawnbreaker
Race: Human
Age: 19
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 190lbs.
Hair: Long straight chestnut brown hair with red highlights that come out in the sun, falling to his shoulders. Usually pulled back and held by a leather thong. Jas is clean shaven.
Eyes: The blue-grey of storm clouds
Description: Jasleth is a tall athletic youth, with broad shoulders and a powerful build. He moves with a strong, unyielding gait that is surprisingly agile. His features are handsome but rugged, his stormy eyes thoughtful and expressive. His skin is that of a Northerner, but is weathered from training outside and travel.

When not wearing the uniform of the Academy, Jasleth dresses in a practical style that leaves him ready for action if necessary. A shirt of white linen under a short sleeved dark blue tunic, belted at the waist, and snug breeches the same blue as his tunic. Trail worn brown leather boots come up almost to his knees, and he wears a set of brown leather bracers embossed with the symbol of warhammer over a rising sun, a set of scales balancing atop the hammer, and fingerless brown leather gloves. He has a well-cared for breastplate that he dons if expecting danger. His formal clothes are a less threadbare version of the same, though he also dons a rich cloak of blue silk with a yellow border and the symbol on his braces in gold on the back. Jas owns several weapons (broad sword, war axe, warhammer, great sword, and great axe) and a plain wooden shield rimmed in iron. He alternates the weapons he carries, and knows the basics of using them all, wanting to achieve mastery with all styles.

Backstory: Jasleth was born the oldest of three children, his father a skilled warrior in service to the King of Arctica and his mother a cleric of the Holy Light. Jasleth grew up in a land of bounty, but one frequently beset by raiding barbarian tribes and rampaging monsters. As he grew he learned to love both the path of war his father tread and the way of learning and faith pursued by his mother. When he came of age to apprentice, he set forth to join the Ascending Suns, Paladins of the Holy Light.

Jasleth showed great promise; his body was strong and his mind very keen and quick. He had a love of the martial arts, and quickly became the best fighter in his age group. The power of the Light was also unusually strong in him, and he studied his academic subjects with equal devotion, if not with the love he had for swordplay.

However, he just as quickly began to butt heads with the order's older members and the guiding clergy. His mind was perhaps too quick, and his sense of justice too keen, as he questioned or outright rejected much of the orthodoxy and dogmatic principles of the order. For such sacrilige, many thought he should be thrown out of the order or slain as a heretic, yet the power of the Light was stronger in him than in all but the most experienced paladins. Finally, they reached a decision and send him away. He was given a letter of introduction to the Tower Academy and sent south to travel there and learn from its' teachers, while the order at home continued on as if he has never been in thier ranks.

Jas is aware that he has been exiled in all but name, but it is of little concern to him. He had never been outside of his kingdom before and is well aware of the Tower Academy's reputation. While he wants to continue his training in healing and defensive magics, he also hopes to learn the techniques of the spellswords, channeling his holy magics through his fighting skills. He is unsure of how he'll be recieved by both his instructors and fellow students, but any trepidation is overcome by all that the Tower Academy has to offer him.
