I tried to refer to the ******** Fault line in a role play about an apocalyptic earthquake, but ever time I write "********", it gets replaced by asterisks.

Why?

Cas-ca-di-a works.
Cas ca dia works.
C a s c a d i a works.

But not ********. ********. ********.

What the fuck?

C
a
s
c
a
d
i
a

That works, too.

What about all caps: ********. Nope.

Someone explain this to me.

I believe it was a hosting service at some point.

That might explain it.

Iys probably someones last name that has been doxxed in the past, or similar spelling.

Oh, I have so many things that I could say...

Most of the banned words point to the parent companies and owners of Lit.

But why in the world would someone ban ********, aka C.a.s.c.a.d.i.a. ... ?

I mean, it's such a weird word to find banned on an erotica writing sight. I mean, I could understand if it was the name of a terrorist group and I was on Facebook promoting Jihad or I selling children for sex from the basement of my Portland, Oregon, pizza parlor named "C.a.s.c.a.d.i.a. Crust". (If you don't get the Portland, Oregon, reference or the pizza ("Pizzagate") reference, look it up. They are hilarious examples of just how stupid people can be.)

I get the reference...

My experience with this began way back when when REDWAVE
posted about the Glorious Revolution of 1917; it came out 1***.

Back in the day when the lit was privately owned, the owners tried to keep their idents private. The whois service listed a bunch of info that became banned words so as to keep the lit monsters from talking about it.

Probably a street name in South Park where one of the characters lives.

Or the crippled kid crashed his wheelchair there or something.

Fuck all this shit, I cunt keep up with this fucking drama.

********

.. instead of a slapping your face with a Chinook salmon..

Maybe this...

C ascadia is a bioregion and bioregional movement located within the western region of North America. Potential boundaries differ, with some drawn along existing political state and provincial lines, and others drawn along larger ecological, cultural, political, and economic boundaries

Thanks for your suggestion, but really, I wasn't looking for a way around the problem, I was looking for a reason it's a problem in the first place. :)
