Of course, had Congress not caved in to the NRA, we would have known after
the first HOUR of the first day of the killings three weeks ago that the
rifle those bullets were coming out of belonged to John Williams/Mohammad.
Many more people died needlessly after that day, and every one of their
deaths could have probably been prevented had we had a national ballistics
fingerprinting data base.

As usual Michael Moore doesn't know his anal orifice from a hole in the ground. We have been over this before in the sniper thread, and this point was thoroughly rebutted. Why bring it up again?

people can be trained to kill with most anything. you talk of all of the people that were killed by guns but i noticed that you failed to mention how many people were saved by guns today. how many gang bangers buy their fully automatic weapons legally.
have you ever been in a carjacking and had a gun stuck to the side of your head. have you felt the cold steel shaking in some hopheads hand screaming at you for your car. it sucks!!! that taught me to carry a legal hand gun that i purchased legally and carry legally with my C.H.L.

I feel for you for having gone through that. However, if you pulled out your gun while he had his to your head, wouldn't that just give him the excuse to pull his trigger, wiping out any possibility that you would be here posting now?

This line reminds me of a Kids in the Hall sketch. A character was on a tropical island, and a local mistook him for an American:

"Actually, I'm Canadian. That's like an American, but without a gun."

Ironically, the rate of gun ownership is higher in Canada than the US.

Well in Jefferson's time they had muzzle loading muskets, not automatic rifles. There is a big difference.

Life's not Burger King, baby. You don't get it your way and it doesn't get served up in a neatly wrapped little package that smells good with all the stuff inside that's easy to swallow.

You want to solve the problem, that's what we'll have to do. And it's going to cost a lot of money. It's going to take literally generations to retrain our society out of the "me" consciousness we got from the 80s. It's going to take generations to train the selfishness and instant gratification out of it. That's if we could even find a social consciousness interested in getting rid of that highly profitable selfish behavior that perpetuates this sort of violence.

Even if we did manage to get a society where responsibility, accountability, and ethics meant something again, we'd still have killers. Do you know why? Some people are born to kill and they will find a way to do it no matter what you do.

Face reality or listen to the guy who wants the cushy elected job spoon feeding you the solution to all of our violence problems. Delusions are more comfortable, aren't they?

Actually I don't really HATE firearms, I grew up around them. My dad had a shotgun and a few rifles for hunting. That I'm fine with but the millions of handguns I have a problem with, not to mention the machine guns the NRA tries to pass off as hunting weapons, which is a big laugh. Those weapons are strictly made for killing human beings.
