The US has been flip flopping between isolationism and engagement for centuries.Hey, if America can’t take the heat and can’t carry the freight that goes with wearing the big girl global panties… then take your balls and go home!
But you cant have it both ways.
If you want to be isolated then shut the fuck up, isolate and go eat your own filthy steroid chicken!
Lol
"In 2023, EU GDP was 67% of U.S. GDP — down from 110% in 2008. Accounting for population, EU GDP per capita as a percentage of U.S. GDP per capita fell from 76.5% in 2008 to 50% in 2023."European economies are thriving -- what would they die of?

As near as I can see the long term goal is to become Western Hemisphere centric, Monroe Doctrine writ large.True!

We have.Yes, i think we’ve talked about that, it makes sense.
Where are you getting those statistics?"In 2023, EU GDP was 67% of U.S. GDP — down from 110% in 2008. Accounting for population, EU GDP per capita as a percentage of U.S. GDP per capita fell from 76.5% in 2008 to 50% in 2023."
Yeah buddy, thriving.
No country in Africa is going to be re-colonized.We have.
Trump, for the time being, has locked up the Mid-East. Tacitly leaving Europe and Asia fighting over Africa's resources. And given Africa's political instability I don't think they're going to enjoy that experience. Perhaps they can try to return to the colonial model, I'm sure China would have no problem with that.
I'm neither your librarian nor your research crew. Do you're own work.Where are you getting those statistics?
Still reading comprehension challenged I see.No country in Africa is going to be re-colonized.
Never, ever fall back on "Do your own research." Only the most worthless, contemptible cranks ever say that.I'm neither your librarian nor your research crew. Do you're own work.

Ahh, the lament of an individual that is either;
1. Too lazy.
2. Too stupid.
3. Both.
to do their own research.

Yup. Elle Elle was bitching about that yesterday.Don’t you know?… you’re supposed to research and argue their side of the debate for them!
Lol

George Will said he is a big time progressive in a WAPO OP-ED, but he’s looking through a certain lens where apparently progressive doesn’t equate with authoritarian. Is trump leading a progressive government?

You are correct. I was responding strictly to comments regarding trump.Obviously that has nothing to do with Canada’ s so-called strategic re-alignment, which is the subject of this thread, oui?
That’s also something of a misnomer, as Canada has been trying to balance being Good Neighbor to AND backing the USA on the world stage while trying to also carve out its own unique domestic society and international presence since the beginning of the post ww2 era.
It hasn’t been easy to balance those 4 competing sensibilities.
ATM Trump is making it easier for Canada to focus on itself, so it is.
Putting more eggs in its UK, EU and Asian baskets are a natural response.
