Can chastity devices ruin a relationship?

Was at a wine tasting with friends and this question came up. Thought about it though and feel only if used without consent or understanding.

I believe If both partners are on board, it can actually strengthen emotional and erotic trust.

Anything can ruin a relationship without open and honest communication. Setting expectations and limits with this kind of thing is key I would say.

There's a whole bunch of couples out there that will absolutely swear that it does the opposite and improves their relationship. My wife and I would be among them although I don't wear a cage.

It's all about the individuals involved, the motivations and the application.

I'm a reward-based individual and I feel like by surrendering full control of my orgasms to her, I'm making a major sacrifice and I like to get some form of recognition from time to time. No, it doesn't have to be an orgasm, but just good interaction of some kind. Even a nice spanking can be enough. When I don't get that, I can get snarly and fight the bit. But it's nothing that would amount to jeopardizing our relationship.

If it is done just to be mean, and not the kind kind of mean, then I can definitely see it leading to trouble but it would only be a catalyst as there would be deeper underlying issues. Chastity would just be bringing those issues to the forefront.

Now, I absolutely do think that cuckolding can, and often does, lead to destroyed relationships. That one is very dicey.
