Camelot 2001

Okay...

I think we have the majority of knights. I will put in one last call for characters and I think we will be able to start either this weekend or no later than Mon or Tues.

The reponse was more than overwhelming and we will be starting sooner then either I or Neale expected.

I want to also do a bit of research on the relationships of the knights, etc. So give me at least a couple of days.

As for bad guys...

Besides Mordred (who will be reanimated by Imoen/Morgan) we have:

The Green Knight who was brought in by Morgan,

Agravaine who is the other brother of Gawain and the betrayer of Lancelot and

Sir Garlon: The Invisible Knight. This knight would always fight
invisibly, and was only defeated by the combined might of several
knights of quality acting in concert. He was given the power of
invisibility by a witch of the fens for the promise to only use
the power for evil.

These are the ones we have chosen to fight our knights...we do have others but these are the only ones that come with descriptions...I will have to do research on the others.

Sooo...the invite to take up evil ones is up but remember...Imoen is in charge of you guys...so it is she who is GMing you and she will be working closely with both Neale and I.

Also, I think I will be moving the OOC thread and starting the playing thread in the ORP board simply because I would like to keep the adventure first..the sex second. All of you are invited to play upon the relationships in the thread but its the adventure I want to stand out.

Any more questions? Answers? Little Pink Pills? You know where to contact me. ;)

Tempting though it is, I have not found much information on the other characters mentioned... so I guess I arrived too late and will have to play the aptly named "Sir Not Appearing In This Thread."

(Sorry, it had to be said)

Tis a pity, Badform...

Your presence will be missed. To bad we don't have any room for annoying French Knights in the thread... I suspect you could do a wonderful job as a French type, wiz zees outrageous accent!

I have been unable to find any info on Sir Lionel :( Any other suggestions. And I have limited knowledge on all of the knights and actions. Any cliff notes out there lol

I am in the process of preparing a 'cheat sheet' for all our players. Give me a little bit and it will be up.

Badform...you are more than welcome to take one of our baddies if you would so like.

The Green Knight.. wasnt he good? or ratehr just like not one of the good knights, sort of on his own, eg, chaotic good ? if i get sum clarification i may be him... cause i mgiht just be thinking of a green kngiht from a story i read or sumthing.

i shall be sir garlon

he sounds like a good evil sob if i might say so. i might get it pretty violently in the end if i'm not careful tho. hmm, get killed by a group of knights? i think not.

name:deke
weight:approximately 180lbs
height:6'1"
age:29
ethnicity:white
nationality:american, although he claims no ties to any country.

a former assassin for the us military and later the cia, deke has gone through just about all the training and bullshit there is in the government. he's had it and has been working freelance for just under a year now, his last hit was fidel castro "the unkillable dictator"and he did that from within castro's compound.

seems to have a real knack for stealth. get in kill the target(s) and sneaks out just as quietly and almost invisible.

familiar with japanese sword techniques but no master. he is more than capable of taking down as many people as he needs to.

he's just as good with hand guns as he is with a rifle, deadly and accurate.

Ok..
question....

in our 'new' forms, so to speak, will we have to go by the same events that happened in camelot.... or can we change things a lot........???

and when we are 'reborn' will we have complete memory of our 'past life' or just become our anceint selves?

Hmmmm... I may be up for the position of Agravain, but I think I need some advice. The netsite for arthurian people I found (http://www.mystical-www.co.uk/arthuriana2z/a.htm) contains the following which makes his position as an evil guy less certain...

Agravain
aka 'Agravaine'. Second son of 'King Lot of Lothian and Orkney' (See Lot) and 'Morgause' (See Morgause). 'Malory' (See Malory) indicates him to be the husband of 'Laurel' (See Laurel).
A Knight of the Round Table, brother of 'Gawain' (See Gawain), 'Gaheris' (See Gaheris) and 'Gareth' (See Gareth). His mother is reported in some accounts to have had five children, the fifth being either 'Clarisant' (his missing sister) but her character is only mentioned once or 'Mordred' (See Mordred).

In legend, Agravain was famous for plotting with 'Mordred' (See Mordred) to reveal the adulterous actions of 'Guinevere' (See Guinevere) and 'Lancelot' (See Lancelot). Agravain was then slain by Lancelot as he attempted to halt the proceedings of the elicit affair in Guinevere's chamber. Believed to have been developed during the Norman Arthurian romances.

Warrior friend of 'Florence' (See Florence).

Now... in the thread, whats the background? This has him as a knight of the rt who appears to believe in honesty and fidelity, rather than getting your end away as Guenwaer and Lancelot. That would make him a good guy, even if an outsider... Just seeking clarification.

The Green Knight

*clears throat*

One year, one New Year's Eve, a green giant rode into the hall and challenged the bravest warrior there to cut off his head, and then, one year later, to visit the green giant's castle and have his own head chopped off. Gawain accepted the challenge and decapitated the giant, who picked up his head and galloped away. The following year, Gawain set off to find the giant. He came to the castle of Lord Bertilak, and was royally entertained there for three nights and days. On each night, Bertilak's wife came and tried to seduce him, and he resisted her each time. On the fourth day, alone in the castle grounds, he came across the green giant, and bent his neck three times to the giants axe. Three times the giant chopped, and each time stopped just before cutting off Gawain's head. Then he disappeared, and Bertilak stood in his place. He told Gawain that the whole adventure had been a test, set by Morgan le Fay to find out which of Arthur's followers was the bravest, and Gawain had passed it. Each of the three blows was for one of the nights when he'd resisted seduction; if he had succumbed he would have died.

Agravaine
I believe he was one of the luckless knights slain by Lancelot one escaping from Guinevere's bedchamber, caught in the act by him, Mordred and a few others.

I'm searching for my 'King Arthur's Companion', an A-Z on people, places, and items... where did I put it???? aghhh....

humm looks like my info on Sir Agraivaine was wrong. I did know that Lancelot slew both of Gawaine's brothers.

Simple solution, we move Sir A. over to the good guy section. All he seems to have done was blow the whistle on the two love birds. The two other evil guys will stand though and I can bring in more though GMing and such if need be.

About the memories....the knights will have BOTH sets of memory intact. This will ensure that they have feelings of loyalty and chivery, etc. while being able to adapt to the 21st century with only a little culture shock.

so um.. is that the green knight or the green giant... heh, i have the sudden urge to eat vegetables ^_^

Just a bit on Agravaine and the other brothers of Mordred, pulled from the site Imoen gave Isolde:

"Her sons, the Orkney clan brothers Gawaine, Gaheris, Agravaine
and Mordred, are reknown for their hatred of the de Gales clan after
King Pellinore de Gales slew their father at the Battle of Castle
Terrabel.
Therefore, they slew Pellinore through treachery, as well as
his sons Melodiam and Lamorak. The latter was killed after Gaheris
discovered Lamorak was the lover of their mother, Margawse. For this
outrage to their father's memory, Gaheris slew his own mother.
As well, the men of Orkney were known as great courtiers and
intriguers. Gawaine was known as a great lover of women (both married
ones and maidens), and Agravaine and Mordred were reknown for their
ability to keep tabs on even the most discrete rendezvous at Camelot."

I don't know if it helps, but the rest of this story is at http://www.employees.org/~pcorless/pendragon/orkney-clan.txt

OK, I'll take Aggy - all together now, "Aggy, Aggy, Aggy! Oy, Oy, Oy!" Sorry, memories of old Maggie Thatch just came flooding back... hmm... slap self across face and get mind back on right track...

Just wanted to make sure I knew where he stood. BTW, you needn't move off this board if you don't want, Isolde - lets face it, the "New Mutants" thread you guys are running has come no nearer sex in about a dozen pages than one character appearing naked for non sexual reasons. So I think a thread with incidental sex, if any, is ok here.

I have a question. Gareth is also Gaiwaine's brother, but he isn't mentioned in any of the Orkney gang or chronicles or anything. Does that mean he wasn't there, or am I missing something here? I would assume all of the brothers would be part of the clan, and I do remember reading somewhere that Gareth was in a clan, although I am no sure if it is the same one.
Aside from that, I am actually glad it's going in the Role Playing thread. That place hasn't been as lively as it should be lately. Some new traffic would definitely be a benefit to the threads.

Check out the link above for a little on Gareth, he was the youngest brother and he wasn't as full of vengeance as his older siblings.

just recapping that i'm sir garlon

evilness ahead........heeheehee

Every time I learn something more I see how sweet of a character he is. It's like he's the ultimate good guy, even Superman has to bow his head to this man. He can do no wrong.

With Apologies/Regrets

I've been away and just got back to read the activity for this role play. I am a complete novice and have been totally surprised by the depth of the preparation and the direction of the story. I hate to admit (in the presence of all you virtuous knights) that I was looking forward to some hot sex in chain mail. It seems that is not to be. And, since I was hoping to survive on my wits alone without lots of historical accuracy getting in the way, I feel I must remove myself from this thread and allow Sir Gawain to be adopted by someone more worthy.

Apologies for any cost to the group.

start a knight sex thread...

there's plenty of things you can do. you see, i think neale is originally from the fantasy role playing place and likes it there better, but he somehow got isolde to do him a favor.

anyway, i just started 3 days ago, and look at me, i've already got some amount of being known, then again i bitched about not having people and such. and the story i'm doing right now about the moderators has gotten attention and the damned thing hasn't even started yet...

basically what i'm saying is, don't be afraid to start your own thread and be bold, have fun and have the amount of literay sex that you want.

Beware Puppy Dog Eyes! Thats all I have to say on THAT subject!

Sorry to see you go tinsnip. I think, once we have this going its going to be a great thread but I can understand your preferences. Sex will, like the 'real life' story, be present but I would like to concentrate on the plot line.

Anyone want to pick up Sir Gawaine either switching your knight or picking up a second? If not I will GM him until we have any takers.

*blink...blink...flutter*

Don't sweat the Green Knight confusion, HS. The Green Knight was a good guy, even though he was never part of the Round Table. His purpose in the legends was to show what an awesome knight Gawaine was. That being said, he did work for Morgan la Fey, and we think that might be reason enough for her to bring him back to stir up some shit. Also, we never let historical/mythological accuracy get in the way of a good story. ;)

Granted, we do a lot of research, but I hope no one feels restricted in any way from interpreting their characters in any fashion they see fit. Personally, I enjoy writing my characters so that they are as close to 'accurate' as possible, but that is merely personal whim. If, for example, jadedpast chooses to have Guinevere chuck it all and become the leader of a lesbian biker gang, I would respect that. (And drool like mad, but that's something completely different.)

how bout The Green Knight as say, a renegade good guy. Don't like rules maybe? *goes off in search of info on the green knight*

I haven't discussed it with Isolde yet, but...

Morgan is already bringing back Guin and Isolde (and maybe the lady of the lake (?) ) to stir up trouble. It is no stretch to see her bring yet another good person back, knowing that that person's very presence would hamper the Knights. Evidently, she had some way of getting the original Green Knight to work for her, so she should have no problem getting him to do so again.
