Calling all BBW's

I got laid off several years ago now myself. Went back to school and got to the job I really wanted. Only problem is I really don't like the place I am working now. The people at the place where I got laid off from were the greatest. There a few really good people where I am now but not many. Kinda thinking I won't spend the rest of my career here.

It sucks when that happens. It happened to me where I'm at now and I've been here for 17 years. I just outlasted the ones I couldn't get along with.

well the thing about where I am is that I love what I'm doing....yeah it has its moments, but I pretty much do my own thing....I'm not restricted as I was before I got laid off.....I can take a longer lunch than I did before, i can come in when I want and leave 8 hrs later....pretty much the way I think a job should be as longas the work gets done....but I know also that good things do come to those who wait....we'll see

Hi Magica ...

Are you in a position to shop around for another company?

Which raises a question or two ... will those differences remain once you become permanent again? And ...maybe I'm forgetting this ... but can they just renew your temp contract?

federal law limits how long a temp employee can work at a company - 1450 hrs or 270 days, whichever comes first. Unfortunately that cannot be extended and I have to take a 100 day break before I could come back again. I think it's dumb, but of course Uncle Sam knows all (so they think)

Give them time and they will "know all".

Uncle Sam needs to take a walk in the working man's shoes ...

the food service industry has got to be the worse, when it comes to employee treatment

LMAO could you see GW having to actually work to live! Or how about any of the other politicians? They are all from money and spoiled rotten!

Yup, they probably are, but depending on what you are doing you could make good money.

So why don't they just subcontract the position and hire you through an agency so that you aren't really their employee? That's how I worked for three years for the company I was with. They would occasionally switch subcontract companies and tell all of us to go fill out the paperwork to work through the new company. Just GREAT for employee morale.

didnt you know, you have to be RICH to be a politician....that's part of why I don't vote all that often...yeah I know it's my right, blah blah blah, but the thing about them is that they change their position when they get voted in.....it's sad that this country was made 'for the people, by the people' yet the people are who get screwed the worst LOL

Yeah, but I hate to jump around. I figure to give it one or two school years then decide based on whether things have improved or not.

well I was in a support position so I can understand why the had to measure how long you took, but geez they need to chill out and understand that not everyone can do their business in :15 mins.....atleast they don't expect 48hrs notice to take personal time off (yeah even for people with kids they wanted 48hrs notice before you could take a personal day - tell your kids that they must give notice before getting sick)

I'm still trying to get used to being able to deviate...I freak when I'm not back in an hour cause traffic has delayed me .....but where I am now is like night and day compared to where I was before

Hell no! If my kids were sick I just called out and that was the end of that!
