Quite a scene today at DHS Secretary Noem’s press conference. CA Senator Padilla barged into the room as she was speaking and began shouting at her. He then resisted security officers as they removed him from the room and calmly restrained him with handcuffs. Governor Newsom and Senate Minority Leader Schumer are actually defending the senator’s behavior and claim he’s a victim of mistreatment by the security officers. Apparently Kamala Harris and other Democrats are jumping into their party’s race to the bottom.

On June 12, 2025, Padilla was waiting at the Wilshire Federal Building for a scheduled briefing from General Gregory Guillot, which was delayed when Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem held a press conference in a nearby room on Los Angeles protests of ICE operations. He asked to attend and was seated behind press reporters and cameras. Several minutes into her statement, Noem blamed the California state government, and said the Trump administration would "liberate the city from the socialist and burdensome leadership that this mayor and this governor have placed on this country". At that point, Padilla walked towards the podium, saying "Madame Secretary, I want to know why you insist on exaggerating", whereupon he was forcefully removed by Secret Service agents. He said, "I am Senator Alex Padilla. I have questions for the secretary" while being pulled out of the room and into a hallway, where several agents held him face-down on the floor and he was handcuffed by FBI Police. He was only briefly detained, and spoke to reporters outside the building. Noem said she had a "great" conversation with Padilla after the incident but that his approach was "something that I don't think was appropriate at all".[60][61][62][63][64]
