But no one will want to be a doctor! Record applications to medical schools in 2013

If you say so Fatty.

Why would pharmaceutical companies actively work for a plan that would regulate their ability to price-gouge and require pharmacies to stock generics at a fraction of the cost? Genuinely curious as to how you worked that one out.

No need to gouge, just use the american price. :D

No one is regulating them, they charge what they like. You don't like it, go canadian. ;)

The Affordable Care Act regulates how much medication can be marked up. It also requires all pharmacies to supply a generic version of the drug, approved by the FDA, that is sold at a cheaper price (normally no more than $4).

Don't confuse pharmacies with drug companies.;)

I'm not. Drug companies can only mark up so much (I think it's 400% but don't quote me, there's an assload of numbers in that thing) when they sell to retailers. Retailers never really marked up that much anyway, from what I understand, most of them won't have to change their pricing policy to stay within the new guidelines. And none of that answers my question about why pharmaceutical companies would write the policies taken in the affordable care act.

Same price for the same med can vary as much as $30.00 around here. So the pharmacies do set their own prices. I guess you are surprised that private insurance companies also had a hand in the obamacare product.

Of course pharmacies set their own prices. I never said or implied that they didn't. I said that most pharmacies don't have a high enough mark-up to be affected by the new, tighter regulations.

Answer the question.

No answer for your question. Money is made on all sides by the same group of stockholders. Obamacare is not lowering drug prices.

So you don't have an answer? You're literally just saying things because you like the way your words look on the page?

Your question is ignorant. For there to be an answer there would have to be a lowering of drug prices. There isn't.

Well, here in the really real world, where there is, it's relevant.

So you think letting them mark up drugs only 400% percent is cool. You do realize that could include the costs of years of research on that drug. No show me where big pharma cut their own throat.

If you recall HMOs tried the same strategy with hospitals, and the hospitals tossed the HMOs out the door.

Heres whats gonna happen. The big drug chains are gonna force the small fry outta business, then theyre gonna hoist prices and tell Obama to kiss their asses if he wants drugs.

I told you before I'm not 100% sure on the mark-up, but 400% isn't that much. It deserves an only. Clothing is usually marked up 800-1200%.

The law as Sgt.Gomer's twin sister describes it, hurts the generic manufacturer more. They do not have all the R&D costs.
