I love newbies. I like this Innocencefound person already I've only read three of her posts.

*Blushing* Thank-you PC.

In my eyes it's best just to be you, that's what I'm doing. I also spent the last few weeks reading all, or at least most of the threads here, so I was able to see what is accepted as manners and what isn't.

Are people actually Kind and gentle around here, I never noticed :p

"I love the Smell of Napalm in the Morning"...

Allow me to loosen up that Crank on your Ass...

You know, I really hate most of my posts from when I was a newbie. *shudders*

:p

Renegade, you were a Newbie?...

I just wanted to say Hi to Laurel...Wuz she here in the Beginning, too?

Newbies might be a bunch of dorks. Or they might not be.
With the oldtimers, there is indisputable evidence.

lol.... exactly. It seems some of them have forgotten that they aren't invincible.

But sis, I am invincible. I have superpowers. Ask Laurel. :) She'll lie and say yeah.

Some newbies are dorks.
Some newbies are cool.
Some regulars are dorks.
Some regulars are cool.

Newbie dork: thumbsinca2 (or something)
Newbie cool: Innocencefound
Regular dork: ppman's anti-American agenda
Regular cool: Angelface

*shrugs*

Opinions are like assholes, everybody got one and they usually stink. Mine doesn't tho, just bathed. :~)

Right on...Col. Kilgore raising some hackles. I knew it wouldn't take long.

Well I am not really a dork KM but I guess I did come across as one in my little argument with EWB and PC.
It will be awhile to live that down but I have lots of time and patience. You will see.

Ya'll have already personally insulted me. Since you forgot, it was directly to me with my name inserted into the insult. I would understand if it was a provoked insult, but it was entirely unprovoked and out of the blue. I thought you were a fucking dork before you even said a word to PC or EBW. Have all the patience ya'll want, fuckhead. Forgiveness is divine and I fall short of divinity. So yes, you are a dork.

Some of us are... and we continue to live to tell about it, too. Just gotta be who you are, kind/gentle or not. We sniff out phonies and assholes and precarious immaturity in seconds around here. However, "kind/gentle" as personally defining characteristics might best be left to those of us with some natural affitinty for it. ;)

On another subject:
Miles?
What about your av?
I didn't care if it was a tad creepy, it was unique and funny and i reallyliked it for those qualities. What happened to it? Did you cave to peer pressure regarding its existence? Oh no...

Finally, on topic, yes, there are a who crew of dorky newbies of late, and some keepers, too. Is that unusual? Seems kinda like regular times to me, from my admittedly short-sighted perspective. Maybe all the kiddies are going back to college now after working as camp counselors all summer or working for Daddy washing cars on the lot he owns. Maybe they're all turning on the computers again and some are tapping into our little home here. Maybe this is a a part of the yearly flux and flow of Lit Life? (So it has been at other slipstream places i've called "home" over the years. End of summer = heightened silliness and craziness until the "back on line" glow fades for the newbies and they go away or are subsumed into the "regulars" population.)

Cym- pretty good appraisal I'd say. Usually it's not hard to tell who will stick around for a while either.

As some folks have gleefully pointed out, everybody has at least a few stupid posts under their belt...well, maybe not STUPID, but at least obnoxious.

Yes, I do realize that anyone here could go digging through the Lit archives, if they were freakishly bored enough, and dig up a dork post or two on everyone else in the place. Big Whoop. What I was offhandedly remarking about was 2 or 3 individuals that seemed to show up all on the same day and were determined to A) insult people, or B) show how tough they were.

I don't know what the strategy is. Maybe just immaturity or stupidity. My first few days at Lit, I looked around and tried to size people up and instantly realized there were some pretty smart cookies here.

I also realized that if I wanted to be at least marginally accepted (and we ALL want to be accepted- all of us, albeit in different ways and on different levels) and actually get something out of this, I would have to have a minimum of manners and try to make some friggin' sense in my posts- in the beginning at least. I still try to be respectful of the people that rate it, and couldn't care less about the rest. I surely don't remember getting my ass flamed on the first day, or even the first week- I could be wrong...I'm sure some freak will dig it up if I am.

I don't hate newbies at all. What I hate is assholes who have no other purpose in life, liars, and phonies. People have likened me to a "Lasher the Lesser"...I went and read a few of his posts, and I agree that while I'm at times abrasive, I fall short of his level of vitriole. I try to contribute something positive and worthwhile along with random jabs and pointing out obvious stupidity along the way. Some of these virgin posters we are talking about seem determined to turn this place into a smack-down board on their first day. They're not hard to spot.

There are also new posters who exhibit brains and humor on their first few posts. They may not get the attention of the jerks, but they do get noticed. I appreciate them a great deal, maybe because they seem to come along less frequently than the idiots.

Speak for yourself. I've never made a stupid OR obnoxious post...

Oh wait... I think what I just said was both stupid AND obnoxious...)... Damn, just ruined a perfect record.
