Buffy: Countdown to the Apocalypse

Rasta, I would never ever mind anything you have to say about Buffy.

you've given us too many good things to think about for me to get annoyed with you.

Stuff happened tonight. Which is much much much preferable to everything slowly plodding along, in fear and confusion, getting their asses kicked.

So I was happy.

I had a major problem with Buffy tonight, that being lack of continuity.

Way back at the end of Season Four, the Initiative was considered a disaster. The complex itself was to be filled with concrete and the Earth salted. Yet Buffy and Spike gain access to quite the concrete-less and salt-free complex.

Minor quibble, but still.

Me too. I remember that scene very clearly - pompous old white gentleman in the boardroom, declaring the initiative a failure, instructions to fill it in with concrete, salt the earth, keep an eye on the slayer. I was really thinking Buffy and Spike would find it filled in, or at least everything beyond that first room.

Them digging in dirt with grass and trees around gave lie to the salted earth idea.

I was thinking, hmmm, what an interesting challenge for a designer and lighting crew - we have Buffy and Spike in total darkness, with flashlights.. we need just enough light to keep it interesting, but not give away too much, or make it not creepy.

I really liked Giles sitting in front of the campfire, looking all creepy and evil. And "Who ya gonna call? We'll never be able to use that line again, will we."

No Buffy for us tonight, basketball instead. Maybe next week.

My heart stopped for a minute. I hear basketball on the tv, I almost tripped over my own feet trying to find the remote to see what channel it was on. Whew.. YAY!!! No basketball over Buffy.

Anything's better than "Abby".

Really.

Tupac, man. Tupac. What kind of black man are you anyways?

lol

I noticed that 6-13-05, I didn't think it had anything to do with Buffy.
I liked tonight's episode, except now I'm left wondering if Buffy will chose to have the iniative fix the chip or remove it. My husband and I were arguing about which it would be. Oh well gives me something to look forward to. And I must remember to watch Angel tomorrow night...what is it like 8:00 or 9:00?

9pm.

I know - aghhh! hard choices, buffy! But angel has a soul and no chip, so I"m betting she'll pick remove before replace, because what if the new chip would go bad, too?

Thanks. Yeah I think she'll pick remove too. He needs a chance to prove that he's trustworthy. Of course I'm biased about Spike so it could just be that talking ;)

I liked tonite's episode. Only for the fact that I think Kennedy kicks ass. Especially in the sexy kissing department. And the funny comments in the show today also.

*everyone patting down Giles*
You mean I'm not in trouble if I touch the girls?

I thought that was funny, and the comment about Who you gonna call.
Ah well I'm rambling.

No summary of tonight's episode? YOU BASTARDS! Y'all are gonna make me suffer until someone gets off their ass and puts it on Kazaa, aren't you?

OK, just tell me one thing to keep me from going completely nuts until I can download it. Is Giles, well... you know? Somebody please PM me!

All I have to say is-

Could Amy be any more of a BITCH???

Like Willow hasn't suffered enough. But to make her turn into Warren?? Ok...I think Amy would have been better staying a rat.

Summery-

Giles takes all the slayer-to-be out to the dessert to "do the hokey-pokey" and wait for the first slayer to come talk with them. (All but Kennedy because she is supposably sick.)

Spike is having hugh pains in his head from the chip, and Buffy is worried it is shorting out because of him living so long. She tries to get in touch with Riley, but she (supposably) gets the wrong number.

Willow finds out Kennedy is faking being sick and is talked in to going out for a few drinks & a bit of "talking". When they return, Willow & Kennedy kiss...and all of a sudden, Willow looks like Warren to everyone else. Willow/Warren runs downstairs to the surprise of everyone, even Buffy who decks her. They believe Willow when she spouts to Xander about some incident in kindergarten involving Aquaman Underoos. Willow takes off to fix whatever it is that happened.

Spike collapses on the floor and tells Buffy that the Initiative Had given him something that made everything "daffodiles & kittens". They go to find the complex, going in, all dark...gloomy...bodies hanging everywhere. They hear noises. Get attacked by demon.

Meanwhile, Xander gets a call from England asking if Giles knows this person, and tells him of all that happened with Giles, and the other watcher he found stabbed...when they show him and we were waiting for his head to be cut off...

Well....anyways...they Xander, Anya, and Andrew all start to worry that Giles is the Bad Thing, so they all pile in the car, drive out there and pat Giles down. (Quite amusing) No, he is not the Big Bad.

Meanwhile, Kennedy follows Willow/Warren, who finds this group of Wiccas, and Amy is among them. They see if they can help Willow back to her true form, but really Amy makes the hex worse. Willow/Warren slaps Amy (Warren coming out more) and storms off. Kennedy finds out what really happened from Amy, how Amy is bitter because of Willow's talents & all.

Willow/Warren goes to a gun shop and buys a gun, the same type used to shoot Tara. Kennedy is transported By Amy to the spot where Buffy was shot. There is Willow/Warren, threatening to shoot her, babbling about how she couldn't save her. Kennedy talks to her, kisses her, and she is Willow again.

Buffy & Spike are found by the Initiative, sent by Riley. They tell Buffy the chip is malfunctioning & either has to be removed or repaired, and they leave the decision up to her.

Ok...not a short summery...but I did my best. I would advise catching it on the repeat if you missed it. Was awesome!! I have it on tape & will probably watch it again.

Ok some thoughts, some will rehash things that have been said, some will bring new angles and others will be somewhat new...

Initiative- I too had problems with the Initiative being accessable. You would think that if an ultra secret government project wanted to get rid of evidence of said project they would do so. I guess they couldn't get the moeny for concrete tagged on to an agricultural bill or something. *Shrug*

Kennedy- Exactly how old is she supposed to be? Unless she was drinking a Virgin she would have had to be over 21 and that seems kind of old for a slayer in training. To me, anyway.

Vision quest/ Giles- Who was it that called? Was it really the guy that Giles was with when we saw the Bringer ready to chop Giles' head off or was it an agent of the First. If it was an agent of the First why would it call? Was it to get all of the slayers in training (minus Kennedy) and all other weaker beings together for some kind of attack on them or does the First plan to attack Buffy while she is busy with Spike.

Amy- Bitch, Bitch Bitch but how did she know Kennedy was a slayer in training? Was it because of her witchy power or something else??? Could be a interesting if it turns out she didn't use her Witchy powers...

Next weeks show.... Looks like we may get a little more info on the Principle which is something that I think is a tad overdue.
