Buffy: Countdown to the Apocalypse

The whole Dawn becoming the next slayer/DNA thing needs some more thoughts so here goes... I'm not Joss Whedon or familar with the actual goings on to choosing the next Slayer so I am probaly wrong but what I have to say may have some merit. If slayer's are choosen by something that is inside of them genetically then Dawn would have to be considered to be in the running for Slayerhood because she has the same genes as Buffy, who is already a slayer.

The biggest problem I see with Dawn becoming the(A) Slayer though is that it is so predictable that Whedon won't do it.

Ok, this was along what I was thinking in my "what if,...." and since actual story-wise, Buffy has died a few times and already activated another slayer, Joss won't do the Dawn slayer after Buffy dies, cuz he couldn't if he wanted to. A thing that just popped into my head also, usu. the slayers have a watcher to train them and Dawn is being trained by Buffy. So that could be that she's NOT intended to be a slayer at all (no matter how many die before w/n reason), OR is it because of Buffy's past relationship w/ the watcher council (they were sort of like fire and gasoline in the past). (The council could be scared to show face around Buffster.)

just my morning ramblings (can you tell I am an aries -- thoughts in too many diff directions).

Faith is still out there so if she were to die Dawn could still become the Slayer. As for the Watchers needing to train prospective Slayers, it doesn't need to be done. I say this because Buffy didn't go into Watcher approved training until after she took over as Slayer and was found by Merrick. So that shows a precedent of a Slayer slipping through the cracks and being missed by the Watchers. And since Dawn was created the Watchers didn't have a chance to seek her out and train her either, so Dawn could very well be the next Slayer (If there will be another Slayer that is. As Rasta pointed out earlier the Hellmouth will be closed during the early part of this century by the last Slayer. taking all demons with her, including vampires.)

*sob* All this talk of how Buffy, and Spike (if the hellmouth closing takes vampires with it) dying, is making me sad.

When Buffy left Spike in the basement...with him saying "Don't leave" I wanted to hit her over the head with something.

I also have the feeling that the whole precog girl (can't remember the characters name) telling Spike "She will say it" is a set up for Buffy's death. I can see the show going in that direction, just as Buffy dies she tells Spike she loves him. Which if it happens is gonna piss me off.

Yeah when she does stuff like she did in the basement I also want to smack some sense into her. I interpreted the precog girl's "She will say it" the same way...she'll say I love you and of course I totally think she'll say it either right before she dies or he'll die saving her and she'll say it before he dies...which will be so depressing :(

BTW Rasta I got the Buffy musical CD...it's great, I listen to it all the time, sing along to it in the car...people probably think I'm nuts. I guess the script and sheet music for that episode are coming out in November.

Wow, where's Rasta? He didnt resurrect the thread for this weeks episode...looks like its up to me.

So, what'd we all think? I'm tired of this whole depressing mentality that's going on right now. The past couple of weeks have had wicked dour themes...i mean, i like it and all, but still. I will say, i was hoping that Anya and Xander would get back together, and i really liked the stress that took over Buffy, Xander, and Willow, shows that things ARE taking a toll on them. Favorite part of the whole show was how Buffy brought up having to kill Angel. I liked how they brought up the backstory...good job there.

What'd ya'll think?

Frankfurt, Germany--A young punky raver girl is running. From whom? You guessed it kiddo--the robed and hooded guys from last episode. She's caught, stabbed. Before she dies she manages to sputter out "From beneath you, it devours"...

...Spike: Buffy shame on you...Why does a man do what he must? For her...to be hers. To be the kind of man who ...would never...To be a kind of man. And she shall look on him with foregiveness, and everybody will forgive and love. And he will be loved. <long pause as he drapes himself onto a large corss, his body beginning to smoke>So everythings ok, right? Can we rest now please? Buffy...can we rest ?

Thank you! I missed this one.

The show has been depressing lately. I do like the almost black humor they've been throwing in though.

I was hopeful at the beginning of the show, when Spike was talking to Buffy. Finally things seemed to be looking up...

Then they go and make it a fantasy. geesh...

I also enjoyed Buffy reminding them that she had to kill Angel, and Willows line, "Well that worked out ok."

Now with Anya no longer being a demon, it puts a new and somewhat old twist back on things. Bringing things back almost full circle.

Heh, I thought that was pretty amusing myself too.

I agree with pretty much everything you've said Eagle. I am watching the show and can't stop, but the depressing stuff was getting to me, especially with so many unanswered questions and details missing. Somehow this last show was better...some loose ends clearing up I guess with Anya's being human again (for however long that lasts). From this show we know this is her third crack at being a human. The only thing we were left wondering was what Willow had to give up to get the demon (I've forgotten his name...something like Hawthorne I think) to release Anyanka from being a vengence demon.

Edit to add my agreement...Spike is hot! And it is weird to hear him without his British accent. When I first heard he's not British you could have knocked me over with a feather. I wonder if the Brits on the Board feel his accent is authentic too. I thought I read somewhere that even the Brits think it's superb!

Wait a sec...how did buffy kill angel when he has his own t.v. show?

Angle became ALL demon for a while, just a really nasty bastard, and he was going to use this statue of some demon God or something to suck the world into hell. You know, typical Buffy bad-guy stuff. Anyways, Buffy and Angel were fighting in front of this "vortex" thingy that was gonna suck the world into hell, and the only way to close it was by putting the one who opened it, Angel, through the vortex.

Meanwhile, back at the Summers house, Willow and the group cast a spell to give Angel his soul back, in hopes that he'll turn things around. The spell worked allright, but just as Buffy speared Angel with a sword. It was quite possibly one of the saddest moments on that show. You can tell Angel is back to normal, and Buffy knows it too. But he got sucked into hell....it was just depressing.

Cut forward a season, and Angel comes back from this hell demention, where he had been tortured for a thousand years or something, because time has no meaning in Hell, or something, i'm a little shady on the details. He comes back, all kooky for a while, but he gets back to normal, then moves to San Fran with Cordeillia...i dunno, its all kinda fuzzy in my mind, if Rasta were to show his face, he'd have a better recap for ya.

I get ranked on so badly by my best friend for this show...he called me at like 8:50 last night, and i told him i'd call him back in 10 minutes, when Buffy was over, and i swear i heard the phone drop. The insults just kept coming after that one. lol, love the show though, cant get enough

Oh ya...I think I saw the eps with him and the statue...but not of them fighting. Interesting.

And RP you freaky guy, where are ya? :p

Oh man, Nash Bridges is the BOMB yo! Its Don Johnson's and Cheech Marrin's show...its on USA at like 1 in the afternoon, and midnight. Jesus, i'm 19 years old, and Don Johnson is the man in my opinion, lol.

Wow I actually found someone who watches Don Johnson still who's my age. I watched him with my mom when he was in Miami Vice and still watch the nash bridges reruns when I catch them. My aunt and Uncle own a bowling alley in Aspen and it's cool because Don Johnson and his family come down there a few times a year to bowl and I got to meet him and even bowl with him...but alas not many people are as excited as I was when I tell the story. Ok sorry for that side note I just had to share with another Don Johnson fan.

I really liked last nights episode. I was so mad when Xander got all pissy at Buffy about having to go after Anya and then she talked about how she had to kill Angel and that shut him up some. I am still mad about what he told her Willow said, that was messed up if you ask me.
I was sad that the Spike/Buffy thing at the beginning was not real but I didn't expect it to me either. It has been depressing so far but I'm thinking it's going to be a depressing season. I had to laugh when the head vengance demon (sorry I can't remember his name) killed her friend instead of her, that was a good twist.

I friggin love Nash, such a great show, driving around in the 'Cuda, its so money, when i'm his age, i wish i could be that cool. I just wish i could be as cool as him PERIOD. Lol, yes, another person my age that watches it is a friggin miracle, only person i know who watches it is 66, and i work with him, lol. Its fuckin awesome you got to meet the man himself though, that rules.

I can't promise anything.

But.

Spike? Don't think him too innocent. He's in with the Big Bad.

You'll see.

He's got Buffy TOTALLY snowed.

He HAS got a soul, doesn't mean he'll keep it. I'm not certain, based on my formula, but if he isn't already, he WILL be the BBad's bitch. Underling, servant, planner-helper-outer.

I actually love that formula. I miss the bad Spike.
