kind of a silly question, but i've never had it happen...if a condom breaks in the middle of sex, is it obvious? or is there a chance that it could go unnoticed

Prolly not too large a chance it will go unnoticed . . . It's never broken on me either, so I can't really gauge that fact.

It's not like it breaks with a sudden snap or loud noise or pop feeling. Just a small tear or imperfection or whatever can split quietly and gently ... and the next thing you know ... it's pretty much gone. In the heat of the moment, it's not noticeable.

Yep. Once they break or tear, they go to pieces pretty quick and you get to wait nervously until you hear those magical words.

Happened to me and neither one of us noticed. Afterwards, all that was left was a two inch latex sheath around the base of my dick.

As the guy, I noticed it when it happened right away...A sudden and nearly overwhelming surge of delicious sensations!!!

Happened twice with me, and yes, you do notice - there is/was a very obvious 'popping' feeling as I pushed through the front of it. It felt tighter round the base of my glans, again as I pushed through it, and there as an obviously different feeling on my glans as well - what with suddenly being warm wet flesh 'n' all.

No idea why - I suspect the first time was because we were constantly changing position, and the condom had a chance to 'dry' out durring one of the more protracted breaks while we each wanked me.
The second time, I wonder if the liquid soap I'd used beforehand to give the ol' undercarriage a quick spruce up hadn't washed away properly and maybe contained oils that were bad for the latex.

Of course, it's entirely possibly that I simply put them on badly, didn't give enough 'free space' at the front, or just got unlucky.

It happened to me once too, and while I have to admit, I didn't feel any popping or snapping or anything I just immediately noticed the head of my dick being EXTRA sensitive and REALLY feeling the wetness so I pulled out before anything happened and all was well. I replaced the defective condom with a new one an all was well.

I've actually had it happen twice. The first time I felt it pop, it was very obvious. The second time, never had a clue. Luckily that was with my wife, so we weren't really that nervous about it. The thing is, it could be either or. There are just a lot of factors.

The fact is though, if put on correctly and in good condition, the breakage rate is pretty low. Just make sure they aren't old, don't put em in your wallet or anywhere like that where they'll get a lot of friction and abuse before opening. Sheesh, it's been so long since I've used em, do comdoms these days have expiration dates?

Yeah actually they do. I know sounds weird but they actually expire and have to be tossed out by the store. Not that I think it happens.

As for knowing it broke, well there are two factors to noticing the condom not being there. First one is how drunk the two of you are, which is also a good way to not notice there is no condom. Second one is how into the sex the two of you are. Namely if your both ripping your clothes off sliding it in and screaming for all the world to know who is fucking her and how good he is noticing a busted condom is a very low chance. If your just laying there having a leisurely sex session, noticing will happen.

Course at this point I am so going to yell at you guys for even doing a leisurely sex session.

Well not really, though your wife/girlfriend had so better of asked for one.

As for the nervous words, why wait? Go get a Plan B pill right after the incident. Never hurts to be cautious.
