a thread for all the brit stuff that the others here don't understand...

NO POLITICAL CRAP IN MY THREAD! :)

1st up.....fish & chips.

http://www.infomotions.com/gallery/bath/Images/DSCN3907.jpg

traditional brit food...battered fish {usually cod, sometimes haddock or plaice} and chunky chips. the batter is crisp, the fish is moist.

That I've got. We just call the chips French Fries. Still trying to make out Toad in the Hole and Bubbles and Squeaks.

In the chipshops in Dorset they do pea fritters. A big ball of mushy peas in batter. Punch a hole in it and put some vinegar in. Luvverly.

Ha, I'm still trying to get my fella to try a pickled onion! :D

Chip shop chips on a cold day when it's just drizzling a little and you're walking along and the vinegary steam is getting in your eyes...heaven. :)

I always grin when I think about that time when Peter Mandelson supposedly pointed at the mushy peas in a chip shop and asked for 'some of that guacamole'. :D

My friend was on a business trip in London when he came down with a sore throat and a cold. He went into a shop and asked if they had anything for sore throats and the fella said "Tunes and lockets". My friend didn't understand and left to try out another shop but was suggested the same remedy. He actually thought the Brits were into holistic or alternative medicine because everyone kept offering him music and pendants, until someone explained what Tunes and Lockets were :D
