I listened to him ramble on about his meeting with his girlfriend. He was the carefree Elliot I loved so much that I had glimpsed so rarely and he was eating and chattering and I drank more then my fair share of the champagne as he continued it seemed unconsiously pouring more and more into my emptying glass.
I was eating my salad as I listened to them talk and chat about how they had met and she was gushing over his every word as if he were a god. I gritted my teeth at the sound of her grating laughter she was going to take my son to hell though and I was going to stop her.

I soon began to ignore his mother, she was not as I had pictured her to be, a loving sweet older woman with one of those poodle perms old women get and a grandmotherly smile. No this was a woman that was not to be reckoned with when she wanted something. I could sense she wanted me out of her sons life. Amazing how men can't fel the tension between to women that are so in love with them. I did love Elliot he was so full of life and energy. How he had made a living as the antique bookstore and made it as successfully as he did i will never know. Myu mind came back to his retelling of our meetig and I blushed slightly as I giggled. "If I remember correctly Ellie darling you ASKED me for my phone number, not *I* you." I placed a finger to his nose and winked as I teased him.
