Beginning to think about getting professional photos done of myself, for myself and my partner for our anniversary next spring.* *I can Google all the tips and dos and don'ts, but curious about some anecdotal experiences.

Trying to decide whether to surprise him after or have him attend?* Anyone have experiences one way and wished they had been there, or wished they hadn't?**

I also have heard a lot more regrets not doing one when they wanted too,* but curious if anyone ever regrets getting a boudoir shoot and why?*

(Please no PMs offering your services.. or to see pics/chat now... ok with PMs of experiences and regrets if you prefer not to put them in a thread)**

I did mine several years ago. I had lost a bunch of weight, so I wanted to do it for myself to celebrate. But it was close to Valentines day also. So, I knew I also wanted it for him.
I picked a few outfits to wear. Don't over think it. Don't put too much thought into making sure it is "perfect" The lady taking the pictures was honest with me, and told me what she thought would look best on film/me. I had someone help me with hair and make up beforehand.
She was the professional, so she told me how to pose. Some which I thought she was crazy for. But in the end. They were fabulous.
I asked her not to do too much editing, as I didn't want to look like a totally different person. She agreed and said that she only likes to edit blemishes, lighting etc.
When I saw them. I cried. I had never felt so beautiful before.

She printed 6 pictures for me, put a bunch on a viewfinder for my husband,( this is what I gave him for Valentines) and gave me about 12 others on a CD

The biggest thing I can say. Do it!!! I have no regrets (even if I gained the weight back) I guess that even makes me happier that I did it. To remind myself I could lose the weight.
Don't over think any of it, and just have fun!

I had some done last year and I absolutely hate them. She didn’t know how to photograph a bigger body. Looking back, I should’ve asked to see her portfolio so I could get a better idea of what her style was. I’d do it again, but with better research.

Thanks Shi_One81 so much for responding. Sorry you hated thwm... hope taking them was fun at least?. Sent you a PM with a few other questions if you are willing?

I say go for it.
I've photographed many women who either did this for themselves or for their significant other/partner. They all loved the experience and wished they had done it sooner.
My advice is to work with someone who also has a hair and makeup artist available. Everyone says they can do their own hair and makeup, but splurge - it's part of the experience. A great hairstyle can really, really enhance an image.
I'll keep this short, if you have any other questions, feel free to send me a pm.
Best of luck.

Sorry to hear about that your experience was less than amazing Shi_One81. Some people just don't know the nuances of photographing different body types and which poses work best for that person.
Hope you got at least one incredible image from the shoot.

A friend of mine had a topless pic of herself on their bedroom wall. It was something her Hubby had wanted her to do. They found a studio with a female photographer and took a series of lovely pictures. She choose her fave and had it printed and framed. It was beautiful. Her kids were horrified though hahahaha :D:D

Oh now I am sold Asian_Flower! .. if framing a gorgeous sexy pic will keep my kids out of our bedroom/bed in middle of night, I will splurge for everything!!

My recommendation is to try it yourself first, using the timer on a digital camera, a device designed only to take pictures. I'm not talking about a bathroom mirror selfie with your phone.

In a total of about 4 hours, you can do a lot of experimentation with poses, camera angles, and lighting. It really is quite easy to do, and then, if you don't produce the kind of result you were hoping for, you can go the professional photographer route.

It doesn't seem from your posting that it is the act of posing that you want to experience, but rather to enjoy the finished product - the photos themselves. That's why I suggest trying it solo first. If what you really want to do is pose for a photographer, then the end product is likely unnecessary. You could have a friend roleplay this with you without even a memory card in the camera.
I think I know now it is definitely both the act of posing, and the finished product but love this idea so husband can be there and enjoy trying the photography. Thanks Chiquitito! Sorry didn't see response til now!!

my cousin does this for a living. he has elevated it to an artform. he has both single people and couples come. the pictures that he makes are amazing. i think it is very arousing for the customers. he has a gift for making anyone look amazing. as a man, i would really love it if my wife did that and gave me the pictures but she is just not that type. I encourage you though.....and doubt you will have any regrets. I do suspect it is hard to find the right person who isn't a perv using that as a way to indulge his own fetishes. Anyway, good luck with it. Perhaps if you do it you can post us a sample :)
