Bombed!

Okay, this is starting to get a little annoying. My third story posted this a.m. in the Erotic Couplings genre. The story is a sequel to one of my I/T stories but there is no incest in this one. The E.C. genre says: "Wild one-on-one consensual sex." My characters are on their honeymoon, hence the title, The Honeymoon. WTF do you THINK they are going to do? Lay around sipping umbrella drinks for two weeks? Where do these Anon people come from anyway? If we writers have to tell you what the story is about in the first paragraph because you won't be bothered to look at the Story Tags... Ok, rant off now.

I didn't see any nasty remarks, and can't see your score yet, its to new to show on the page I can view.

Do you get trolled or was it a nasty comment?

Relax. AH writers love goofing new writers, and are responsible for most of the anonymous bullshit. They run up scores for each other and pile on. Theyre not nice people.

Mr. or Mz. Anon was highly upset that my characters engaged in sexual relations that were not to his/her liking and gave me that standard "You need to let readers know... before...blah,blah,blah." Seriously? What are you doing on this site if you are so easily offended? And my score sank like almost one full point too. Story Tags people, story tags. That's why we write them!

Story tags aren't very effective for squick prevention. They're useful if you want to find a story that does have a particular theme (assuming the author and reader picked the exact same tag wording) but if I go click on something on the "New Stories" view or whatever, I don't see the tags until I get to the last page. By then it's a bit late.

If you do want to warn readers in advance about content that might bug them, probably better off doing that in a note at the start of the story. Of course, some people go out of their way to read stuff that bugs them just so they can complain about it.

Good news is, 1-bombs tend to get deleted from the votes every so often; the sweep process isn't perfect but it catches a lot of them.

@NightyKnight

Do yourself a favor and don;t get too caught up in things like bombs,scores, comments and what people think.

Its easy to do. Everyone wants good scores and great feedback and it sucks there are people so petty and pathetic they get their rocks off dropping bombs and leaving nasty remarks.

But you need to focus on your writing. Did you like your story, do you think it came out the way you wanted it to? That is important.

Every author here has their own style, approach, kinks, squicks, methods etc...and the good thing about lit is the readership is just as, if not more, varied than the authors.

Keep posting work and the people who like what you are offering will find you and they will multiply as time goes on. Building a strong following will eventually help cancel out the bombs and your fans will out shout the trolls.

But to get there you need to keep your head down and keep working, don;t fret "not sure if they liked it" someone will and many times new stories that catch a readers eye will lead them back to your older ones.

I see you've got a couple of incest series. Incest is a huge category and if you keep working in it you will get that fan base and quickly. And they will tend to follow you to other categories as well so think of your fan base as your "back-up"

As to the trolls right now? Just roll with them, laugh at them, shake your head, and just think of how sad they are, but otherwise don;t let them take up to much room in your head, You need that room to write.
