Rida, you have been an absolute gem, and a true lady, as regards BL. Likewise, ITW and Cutie Mouse have shown enormous restraint and respect. Etoile, Netz, Stella, and many others have all offered BL the chance to interact in a human, and humane, manner. I am in awe of all of you. *tips hat*

It takes all of my super powers not to leap to the defense of people I have come to know as intelligent, compassionate, insightful and respectful when I see them constantly spit on, (and shit on), by this person. (And it crushes me to see the aforementioned people actually defending themselves and/or their lifestyles to a nutjob like this). I just know what the outcome will be and I figure if I’m going to throw my energy into a lost cause I’d rather it be something more profound.

Also, I assume everyone here is a big boy/girl and can take care of themselves. But I’m nutty that way.

Thanks! :)

Wait, are you calling me a lady too? I have always wanted to be called a true lady! Fab!

I know what you mean, but feed the anger in people by threads like this one doesn't help much either, or does it?

I agree with what you said in another thread. It's a waste of time to trade insults. I don't know why any of these threads are still going.

Simple fanaticism.

There are way too many people who are too insecure in their beliefs to leave anyone in peace who disagrees with them.

Logic doesn't work on him. You're wasting your time baby girl.

You're right. I momentarily forgot.

It's just so hard to remember all the time that someone who has enough of a brain to string a sentence together can also be so impervious to reason and reality.

IQ and EQ are vastly different things, hon. Intelligence doesn't equate empathy, nor maturity, nor logic.

Let me second these two things. Folks, my darlings, do not-- ever-- waste your time trying to defend yourself or your life choices the ways I saw some people trying to do. The guy wasn't ever interested in learning who or what you really are. No words on earth would ever make him change his mind or apologise-- that was obvious right away.

The only thing you can do with a troll like that is describe his actions to him. over and over. It won't change him, of course. But it can very good exercise for you-- helps you solidify your own moral code, maybe.

It's difficult for some, especially for women, to unequivocally tell someone that you do not agree, do not approve and tell them why -- We tend towards delicate hints that anyone can completely ignore if they so choose...

Just some thoughts.

And thanks, Keroin.

You're welcome. :rose:

Honestly there are some really amazing people here on Lit. I probably haven't said it often enough but I'm so grateful for this little community and the intelligent and quirky people that inhabit it. My world view is constantly expanding thanks to the people who take the time to express themselves in this forum, and for that I am eternally grateful.

And even when I don't agree with many of those who post here, I still respect them. :rose:

But when it comes to the subject of this thread, well, actions speak louder than words. He rages against those who abuse others and yet he continues to knowingly create threads where they do not belong and has posted stories that he has made clear he will delete and re-submit if the voting results don't suit him. I feel sorry for the mods who have to deal with this. I'm sure they have lives and more important things to do than play Sancho to his Don Quixote. Obviously he cares nothing for them and he is quite willing to use them to serve his needs.

I understand that only certain people get banned, but that just seems like a bannable offense to me. I guess that's why I'm not a mod, I'd kick out these kinds of "people".

Honestly, that's akin to spam in my eyes. It's misusing the free speech rule on this board...a rule that he's PROUDLY abusing for his own personal gain. It's fucking disgusting.

I agree with you 100%. However, as a mod, I know that my opinions on such things don't matter. I just enforce what Laurel and Manu want. Such is the job. :D

I have no idea why Laurel and Manu would actually approve of someone like that clouding up the board with his BS. I simply can't wrap my head around it.

I may be overthinking this, but it kind of reminds me of reality TV producers. They know it's shit, but it's negative shit that gets people talking.

Kind of cheap tactics, but I don't own the site. So... *shrug*

There is no need to ban this guy, and no need for anyone to work themselves up into a lather of outrage over what, or how often, he posts.

This is why the good lord invented the Ignore function. It's real easy to use, folks.

Yes, in an ideal world, everyone on the board would ignore him.

But there are a lot of people who are strictly against the ignore function and people who love quoting him in threads.

Even though I have him on ignore, I'm still constantly exposed to his crap.

As I said to a friend "I feel like I'm getting radiation poisoning!"

I think that the main reason is that once you start to ban people because they get reported for alleged wrongdoing you risk cutting into the "free speech" character of this site. And I confess that one of the reason I really like it here on Lit is that it is indeed a true free speech site, or as close as you can get.

You cannot do what BL has been accusing people to do on other sites, to gang up against him and report him to the mods/owner to be banned.

I just see though that since Lit takes the No Spam! rule very seriously as well, he should be careful as he does at time walk a fine line there.

I don't have a problem scrolling on by without reading, so I've never used the Firefox thing. But presumably Kybele could tell you how to get it, if you ask her.

I'm not saying he should be banned for being an asshole. I'm saying he should be banned for deleting and re-submitting his stories OVER AND OVER again because he didn't like the votes it got.

That's what I'm talking about.

Exactly. It's not worth the emotional energy.

I have managed to ignore all of the longish posts from the party in question so I can only ask: are they commercial entreaties or just essays or fiction? If it's the latter, than no matter how irritating they might be, they're not spam.

The guy has every right to post his thoughts here - and everyone else has every right to refuse to read it or comment on it.

Okay, I deserve a big fat thank you for having to remove Blardo from my ignore list and hunt down this thread for you:

It's two pages. No tl;dr allowed. I won't step foot in there again, my eyes are bleeding already.

I haven't read any stories on lit in ages upon ages. I don't think I've ever voted for any.

The last story I read was about two years ago. I haven't voted on a single one.

We all know the facts. He's obsessive, pseudo-intellectual, arrogant to the point of narcissism, blah blah blah. Half of the trolls in the GB have that going for them and they almost never get banned.

But NO ONE should be able to get away with reposting the same stories MULTIPLE TIMES just because he's pissed at the "1" votes. Like CM said, he's abusing the system, and not getting punished for it.

That does seem like an abuse of the way the story side is set up, but I'm sure the people who have to keep deleting and re-adding will make that call.

I don't like the idea of people being kicked for non-commercial-whoring definitions of spam.

And that is why I mentioned he is walking the fine line of spam.

His posting here do not qualify, no matter how repetitive he is.

It is up to the owner of the site to decide if re-submitting the same story over and over to ensure a spot on the first page can be considered akin to spam.

If I was the owner, I'd put at least a month or two moratorium before you can resubmit the story. Or with some sort of marking for -resubmitted or something.

The way it is now, he can do it. And nobody would have even known if he was not so adamant to make his case.

According to Wiki:

Spam (Stupid-Pathetic-Annoying-Message) is the use of electronic messaging systems (including most broadcast media, digital delivery systems) to send unsolicited bulk messages indiscriminately.

Further, in the forum definition:

Newsgroup spam is a type of spam where the targets are Usenet newsgroups. Spamming of Usenet newsgroups actually pre-dates e-mail spam. Usenet convention defines spamming as excessive multiple posting, that is, the repeated posting of a message (or substantially similar messages).

He's not selling anything, but I'd say what he was doing qualified. Then again, I'm not Laurel or Manu.
