Block a Forum

Is there any possibility of creating the function of blocking a whole forum? There are certain forums (plural is being used to disguise) that when I browse New Posts I would rather not see any posts from that forum.

XF has the ability to Hide/Ignore forum sections, but I don't see it as an option here. Yet

How can this be expedited??

I can understand why people would want to do this, but if its an entire forum, isn't it easy enough to simply not click on them, or does just seeing the title of whatever the newest post be that upsetting? I'm not being sarcastic, just asking.

Most of us use the ‘New posts’ function to scroll through Lit and therefore inflammatory posts are part of that. I have a condition that makes me click on posts that I know have been started by ignorant homophobic misogynistic twatwaffles. It’s kind of like asking the coke addict to pass the table with coke on it. The other thing is why should it bother anyone else if I block off a whole forum, why should I be forced to see the drivel said twatwaffles post.

I can block a thread by blocking the thread starter, unless it’s a mod so then I should be able to block a forum or sub-forum on a whim. It’s not like they are losing advertising revenue by me abstaining.

But you're right, there is no paid advertising here so I suppose the site can do it, just a matter of would they think its worth it?

I have been informed that the option is available in this version of the software, so it’s just a matter of a config change IMO.

I generally do not use the 'New Posts' feature. I have a set of 'Watched Threads' that I have assembled over time. Those are the ones I see for the most part. Basically I do not browse by Forum Title, so the option to block a forum would not be a priority for me. Just another pov...

I have also never used the new posts feature. I’m not sure it can be assumed that most people use that to scroll Lit. I click on specific forums and see what’s new in each of them. I would not use such a feature. That said, I think a feature to block a forum would be appreciated by a fair amount of people, definitely folks who do use the new posts list as something of a home page here.

It's an adult site. You could exercise being an adult able to take responsibility for yourself by just not clicking on what you don't want to read, or, if you've stumbled into it, just click out and go on about your business. I don't see that babysitting is needed in this case.

It has nothing to do with the adult content that’s fine to deal with, it’s morons who spew hateful disinformation which is not moderated and turns up in my stream. So get off your high horse and try and understand what the original request was about.

I've been surfing these forums for less than 2 days now - and I have noticed that there are certain people who like to make comments about posts, such as, You're and adult, take responsibility. or 'If you dont like it, Leave'
That is until something is happening that they dont like - in which case the world has to change.

For one thing, it involves where the Web site is going to devote resources and where it doesn't. I don't think babysitting is where it's resources should go over cleaning the site up or changes that help speed up posting of stories. The site needs to be cleaned up more. For another thing, I think it's something you need to hear and think about in terms of taking responsibility for yourself--especially on a porn board. If you don't want anyone else opinion to be expressed but yours, don't open discussion threads.

By all means call me on this when I actually do what you assert I'll do. It's quite true you've only been on the site for a couple of days and you already are working on redecorating it to your liking on several threads.
