We’re about to get some Ford F150 down here.

Not gonna lie, I’ve kinda always wanted one. I don’t know anything about what they’re like obviously, but still. What a truck. Be great down the farm I think.

Anyone have a truck? Like a RAM or Silverado or F150? Sales are booming apparently.

The 2023 Ford F-150 is one giant step closer to Australian showrooms, with the first shipment of pick-ups already on the water and on their way to Melbourne ahead of a multi-million-dollar right-hand-drive remanufacturing program.
Despite fears there would be significant delays – given Ford’s engineering partner RMA had never before undertaken a left- to right-hand-drive conversion program on such scale – the F-150 is on track to hit its forecast arrival in the second half of this year.
At this rate, the first customer deliveries in Australia of the locally-remanufactured right-hand-drive Ford F-150 are expected by October, pending any unforeseen setbacks.

American trucks are a long way past their best decades. Sorry you're getting our shit. Buy a Hilux or something else.

I have a Toyota Tundra with the SS package. I used to have an F-250 before that. At first, they take some getting used to because of the turn radius and trickiness to park, but for a farm/country living usage, they are solid. The hybrid F-150s are even better. They can have more torque if that's needed for pulling things.

Imagine what it can do to a kangaroo at 70 mph.

I'm partial to Ford trucks and live in the US. Service and parts are about as generic as VW Bugs in the '60s.

If I were outside the US I'd look towards Toyota for utes. Much easier to find parts and customizing.

Vehicles are only as good as their service systems can maintain.

I’ve had a bunch of trucks. Toyota Hilux(s), a Ford Ranger and a Nissan patrol. Patrol is not a pick-up, but great for towing the boat and off-road stuff.

Prefer the Hilux over the Ranger, but prefer the older model Patrol to the newer ones. We have many trucks to choose from down here.

I have a Hilux already lol. I’m thinking country drive. Wind in my hair. Have an ice cream. Get more fuel lol

When American trucks were designed entirely as work trucks, they were smaller and lighter with mostly 6 cylinder engines that lasted longer than V8s. As commuter vehicles, they needed bigger engines for highway driving. And now they need to be lighter for fuel economy, but still huge for the passenger truck market. So the truck makers cut corners with underbuilt chassis and drivetrain gadgets that increase miles per gallon but reduce the life of the engine and transmission.

I am a ford guy. Always have been.

I drive my trucks into the ground and use them on the farm. I’ve been thinking of getting a new one but the prices are ridiculous right now. I will wait for the next recession to buy when I can get 0% (or low rate) interest again.

have had three f150s. 1995, 2004, 2015. I have found the trucks to be reliable and pretty well made.

Toyota Tundra SS ooh. I’ll have to google that one. I’m not sure we have them. And it’s mostly the towies who have the F250s down here. Big grunt. Australian modifications lol. A lot of money in towing though.

Vintage 79s shortbox's now equipped with big blocks as most four wheel drives only got a 400 or 351M typically, or a 76 could have had a 360 which could be updated to a 390 or 428 without changing the transmission

All of the full-sized trucks have gotten too big to be useful. The beds are so tall,
reaching in is all but impossible. Forget working out of one to, say, build fence, is out of the question.

On my second Ram 1500. The first is still going on the farm for farm stuff. My 2 best trucks. Third best was a Shivverlay, as was the worst, and by that I mean bad.

I really love the older style Fords. I don’t even know what model this is, but I love the look of it. That is one very beautiful looking yank truck.

that is either a true blood 1979 or 1978 with square headlight option, its a Lariet edition with full chrome and race track moldings and very nicely dressed up......has factory box hooks and aftermarket box rails and running boards

Not my own, but a very nice example of a 1979 two wheel drive, the side pipes do add a nice touch, or ankle burners as I think they were nicknamed in the late sixties corvette days
