BREAKING: Biden administration reverses Trump policy, sends troops to Somalia

An official said that the plan with this new deployment is to bring "the threat to a level that is tolerable."

The Biden administration is deploying US troops to Somalia. President Biden signed off on the plan on Monday, along with a plan to target some dozen leaders of Al Shabab. Trump had withdrawn troops from the war-torn region near the end of his time in office. About 450 troops will be sent to Somalia, on Africa's east coast.

The troops being redeployed to Somalia are Special Operations forces, and the Pentagon has also been given authority to target leaders of Al Shabab, a terrorist group affiliated with Al Qaeda, according to The New York Times.

Though we're on the verge of war with Russia, the left's desire to reverse all that Trump did has Biden sending US troops back to Somalia.

Let us hope they do some good there. And that it works out better than it did in the Clinton years.

Rightgerd would prefer we let Al Qaeda flourish so he can blame Biden so better to blame him now for doing something about it

Clinton, BTW, has said his greatest regret is not intervening in the Rwandan genocide. But after the failed mission in Somalia, he didn't think he had the political capital to sell another military action in Africa.

If that was the worry we'd have never left Afghanistan. There still is no good reason why we still have 900 troops in Syria since their operations have been pretty much shut down.

There's plenty of reasons to have troops close to the action

There are no grounds to infer "Biden's love of war" from this. If that were his motive, we'd be at war with Russia.

the left's desire to reverse all that Trump
Remember why Trump abolished the pandemic task force. It was not an expensive program, but it was an Obama program, and Trump was utterly obsessed with Obama, determined to reverse everything Obama had done.

I believe the pee tape story, but not that Trump actually has that fetish -- he just wanted the prostitutes to defile a bed Obama had slept in.

Most decent Americans (not just "The Left") want to reverse most of the damage that Trump did, both abroad (to the U.S. as a leading world power) and at home (with his disasterous economic, environmental, judicial, and social policies.) As well as the darker, coarser tone of politics that he ushered in, and the naked racism that seems to have taken root in his wake.

So no, Americans do not want to undo all that Trump did, only the negative stuff. But sadly, this still does amount to most of it.

As far as sending troops to Somalia, no, I do NOT agree with Biden on this. This is not a good idea, as history has shown that it will only lead to a further quagmire and a loss of American troops lives that will accomplish very little in the end.

Remember when one of 45's main campaign promises was to repeal and replace ACA? How'd that work out?
