GDP has a direct impact on debt, which is why your statement is meant to obfuscate the impact of debt.

For example, the debt you mentioned above is paid off differently in the US. A debt of that amount in Estonia would bankrupt the country without question. In the US, it does not. That's because the economic output is not comparable nor is the debt relative to that output.

GDP of a country has a direct correlation to debt and to contributions towards global stability. Estonia is contributing a much larger stake of their country towards Ukraine...as they should because the war has a more direct impact on their country.

The spending is not out of control, our revenues are too low. Unless you're gonna convince the right that now is the fucking time to start slashing the military we're not cutting spending enough to make a difference. That's just the simple truth. Now it wouldn't hurt my feelings much if we did cut the military or at least freeze spending for a bit but I also know things that won't happen.

MAGA is an existential threat even if you think its about spending and debt. They are likely to cut taxes further given power. We know they will gut the IRS which still isn't where it should be in terms of funding so revenues will drop. They might cut Medicare and Social Security but I doubt it since that would piss off too many people and we know they won't cut the military. Terrorist watch list stops have soared at U.S. borders in fiscal year 2023.

According to data released by U.S. Customs and Border Protection on Saturday there have been a total of 736 terrorist suspects stopped at the border in that period.

The data shows that 564 of those encounters occurred at land border ports of entry while 172 encounters occurred between ports of entry.

By comparison, fiscal year 2020 saw a total of 199 terrorist suspects stopped at the border, and in FY 2021 the total was 173. In FY 2022 the total was 478.
