He's lost a lot of weight from a year or two ago, but he's apparently gained a nice little chunk of it back from where he was just a few weeks ago. I'm impressed and pleased that he looks so much better, especially just hours after surgery.

I only gained back about five pounds but now, ever since they did the endoscopy and put bands on some of the varices I can't eat solid food. Actually it seems to be really bad with animal products. I threw up the other day after a couple of bites of roast turkey and this morning a few bites of scrambled eggs has me all messed up.

His faeries, btw, were texting me. They're not so great of spellers, but they said he was singing about how pretty, witty, and gay he feels.

Yeah, the lil imps scampered off with my cell phone while I was asleep.

I would have been home already but that from one of my blood cultures they managed to grow fungus, one of the candida strains. Since it's a blood infection I guess it's pretty bad and they're keeping me at least thru the weekend and I'm on this antifungal i.v. med that's pretty scary stuff. It's called amphotericin b liposome for all of you nurse types.

They're waiting for the lab to determine what strain of the candida I have. Maybe I'm harboring some sort of new military grade bio-weapon.

On the downside I've been getting the hiccups.
On the upside, I'm finally beginning to feel healthy as in normal like I did before I got so sick in February.

Never-failed (yet) trick to getting rid of them.
Swallow (not drink anything, just build up saliva and swallow) as many times as you can without hiccuping between swallows. Never takes me more than four.

I know, it's maddening. But, if you've got some serious infection, they need to do vitals prolly 'round the clock - like every 2-4 hours right? Cuz yanno, what if you're sleeping, and they don't check on you, and then something bad happens?
