It's so hard to find people around me that appreciates my kind of humor. I get stomach cramps laughing so damn hard at every episode and situation Mr. Fawlty, Black Adder, or the crew of Red Dwarf find themselves in!
It's not so much slapstick per se, but a real thinking type of humor required to "get" the joke.

To some people I suppose...to me they were a serious attempt at describing a future in some far off time when Man had broken loose from his petty squabbling and the chains of Earth and was taking his rightful place as Leader of the Free Federation...

Thats the huge difference between English humour and American. English is very dry, and subtle, the kind you have to be thinking to really appreiciate. American is a lot more "in your face, funny funny, yuck it up" type humour. On the whole, I prefer the English way......and quite a few mentioned in this thread "clones" of english shows.

BlackAdder and Fawlty Towers rule, and for sheer slapstick idiocy...MR BEAN.

All In The Family was an american version of To Death Do Us Part
Three's Company was an american version of Man About The House
There have been many others, these are just two that spring to mind.

Americans DO produce some funny shows, dont get me wrong, but I prefer the English way.

Nothing the americans have ever done will come close to the sheer brilliance of Monty Pythlon.
