Hope you have a wonderful time and manage to find that "one thing". Safe journey!

Check out this Vid of the Lowe River near Valdez, AK. Watch long enough to see one of the waterfalls along the canyon. You can see why this place is a premier ice climbing destination in winter.

Be sure to wear your PFD so you don't end up in the newspaper looking stupid
Oh man, that had to suck! (Funny for the rest of us, though.)

Hi, Thor. :rose: I'm heading out the door, but I'll look for you around later. Have a great day!

C, I've seen those rimshots before...those guys are braver than me. That just looks terrifying.

Same here. There's absolutely no room for error. I'll take my chances with rocks, roots, and mt. sides. Cliffs are a no go!

Nice...the guy shooting the vid sounds a little spooked.

In winter:
LOL, like candyland for ice climbers in the winter.....

the guy rowing the cat is one of my oldest boating friends.....there's never a need to be spooked on his boat......

LOL.......i have enough chance of being a fatality on a ski trail, much less, a cliff.....

my worst splats have been in the woods....just not paying attention, of going too fast.....

On the mtb, it's because I'm going too slow...can't clear the object! Strange how speed can the best and worst thing.

He seemed pretty relaxed.

I've never been very technical on a mtb. I just like to cruise along. Some of the stuff that people do on mtb's is amazing to me. Who looks at this and thinks, "I wanna ride my bike up that?"
My technical skills have never been great. More of a pedal like mad and hope to hell I get through. It's not the ride up that structure that would concern me, it's the lack of any structure at the top!

Gee, think I will stick with the exercise bike. Not much chance in going over a cliff with it.

time for some bike jousting......

You got it!
lances not required.....

just a goup of bikers on a blank paved tennis court.......last one riding, wins......no contact allowed, and you're out, with a dab.....

Peregrinator,

As a fellow hiker with a focus on caves, rapelling and absieling and who has sustained a major spinal trauma injury (crushed the L1 vertebra in half), what do you recommend as supremo back support in technical gear from back packs to ropes? I have minimal stuctural strength but have maintained core strenth. I'll be using a torso brace/ corsette to sustain the structural integrity of the back.
