BBW's Check In Version 4

My allergies are killing me. I have had a headache all week from the rain.
In a few weeks, I am pretty sure I will be working overtime at the nursing home. My office mate is threatening to quit.

I'd estimate 3/4ths of the nation has had some allergy attack this spring. The company's been a festival of sneezing and coughing since late March.

If it weren't for the interns this summer, I think I'd be losing my mind. I have 4 of them doing the simple stuff I would be doing in addition to the database resurrection. They also love that I will send one or two of them out to retrieve Starbucks for the department at around 10 in the morning LOL

Last year, when we were without a 3rd person in our dept., my boss and I worked 10 days, then I went off to work at the bakery on the weekend. I never saw the summer last year. It was from Memorial Day to Labor Day. I still have filing to do from that.

I worked one summer as a file clerk for an underwriting department. There were papers from three years previous that had to be filed!

I filed the important stuff already. This stuff is in not important. I put a little away at a time. The stack has went way down. Considering all the work we were doing, something had to give.

That was the excuse I was given. I was lucky to be able to have music playing in the file room.

If I go in to file now, my boss tries to find me something to do. I tell her I need 20 minutes a day to get caught up. 20 minutes a day X5 days a week X til the job is done

I usually spend the last half hour of my work day in the office filing, whether into cabinets or digitally. I know it sucks for someone else to do it later.

Me too. Also, cleaning up my desk and getting prepared for the next day.

I work from home or Starbucks for another 2 hours after I leave the office, usually correcting programming code errors, so I don't have to do it in the morning.

No. When I leave the office, I leave the office. They call my boss. My old job, when I had 9 people underneath me, that was different. I could recite things about the apartment community verbatim without looking. My boss would call me on my day off and I would tell her how to do things...hello, that is your job! This is how I won a free vacation for customer service. This is how the apartment community I worked at went from being the worst in the company, to being 2 points away from property of the year. We took all the awards that year! Best team I ever worked with...

I'm OCD when it comes to coding. I don't like others fixing problems. Most days, I don't even turn on the work laptop, just sit on my ass, sip a latte, and play on Lit...but still charge the company for that time, because "I was available."

No, I don't work in the apartment industry anymore, too many slimy people. Part of me misses the residents, but not enough to put up with the shit. I have seen some underhanded shit that would curl your hair. Got some of their asses fired too! Dumb bitches and pricks.

I saw the application that stated under job "entertain men in hotel rooms". The best part was that an office staff member verified the job..the manager traded favors for rent. No one knew until he got a promotion and she was evicted. Same manager was also renting to strippers. And his wife would bring his newborn baby to the property to visit daddy at work.

That straighten the curly hairs

Best thing, though, I saw was, a week before deer hunting season started, as I was setting up for the associate professor/photographer and her models, I saw 2 10+point bucks walk calmly and slowly across the field where we were, followed by several does and young deer. I had to laugh: I hunted at the time with my dad and others. I told them of what I saw and everyone agreed: They KNEW there were no guns in our group.

The last apartment community I was at had a 10+point buck and several does living in the woods. They would cross the street freely all the time. And we were Iin the suburbs.

No deer in my city, but I've seen raccoon, groundhogs/woodchucks, skunks, opossums, rabbits, foxes, coyotes...and birds like blue heron, turkey vultures, peregrines, and at least 3 bald eagles.

I grew up going to the family farms at least twice a month. I grew up being allowed to shoot "problem" animals, though the deer usually never came to the vegetables and corn. Rabbits did though.

We go watch the eagles pick up fish out of the river in the winter. It is easier to see them then. We have a sanctuary here. Deer are pretty common in thr suburbs. We hear deer vs. Car accidents on the traffic reports. There is at least one a week.

We have those accidents frequently, especially near where my father was born and raised. The state put an interstate right in the middle of several deer paths.

The deer got so bad in some cemetaries and parks here that sharp shooters were hired to thin the herd. My sister in law talked them into donating the meat to the food pantry. She has worked for them for years. The residents were all up in arms. When the meat could be used to feed the needy, the deal went through.

I don't like the taste of venison. When I hunted, my portion, after 2 lbs for the wife and her family, went to a food pantry. The butcher our group used knew what to do with it, so it could be easily sent to needy families.

He does the same with turkeys, rabbits, squirrels, and other wild fowl.

Yes. This was a huge meat donation for them. It was a win-win situation for everyone involved.

In Schoharie County NY, where my dad was born, most of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation officers are related to me. If they find a hunting party that have exceeded their quota, or have killed illegally, they will confiscate and "destroy" the animals - not suppose to donate. However, they know some butchers who will "find" venison in their freezers LOL
