My father was born on a farm: really, in a farmhouse. Some of his friends, and their children, along with a aunt, have a smoke house

So I can have smoked meats in the winter

I live in the suburbs. I divorced a man who was 1st generation off the farm. Having a have of cow in the freezer is something I had to get used to.

When we moved out of public housing when I was 9, we had a big ass freezer in the basement. It was full of game and fowl meat, plus all sorts of sausages - from breakfast to kielbasa, from venison Italian style to Wild Turkey seasoned wild turkey loose . Just before my parents divorced, we had a second one, this full with half a bull. We had beef at least one meal a day that summer, even at camp

I completely understsnd. One family member raises cows.. One raises pigs. While married, we had 2 fridges and a deep freezer. Really? It is just the 2 of us!

There were 5 of us, plus our friends. My dad didn't mind sharing the sausages with the kids.
