can someone explain to me the bottom of the ninth? why is it so special? im a cricket fan!! lol

Wow, my Stros have a winning streak!

It's so embarrassing to Mariners fans that we won a series from them in their home stadium that it is driving them to drink.

Okay, Mariners fan checking in. The funny thing about this is that I had a Dan Wilson-hit foul ball skitter past my feet, and despite completely adoring him, I let it pass because I couldn't be bothered to put down my dog and beer.

Of course, I wasn't watching the game in Seattle, so that might have had a lot to do with it....

sandygroper, the bottom of the ninth is only played if the home team is trailing, or the game is tied, when it comes up. The home team plays the second half of the inning, so if they are leading, they don't need to play their half and can simply end the game.

Only happens in a tie game or if the home team is losing. Game is over afterward unless there is an exact tie. Very dramatic

Hopefully the Astros keep building from last season and take it a step farther in the playoffs.
