Ok, I have had a fairly relaxing weekend thus far. Nothing grand, mind you, but not horrible. My 5 year old has been sick on and off since Friday night. Had a fever, whined alot, refused to let us give her medicine, or a cool bath, etc. Well, she was fine all day saturday, and was sick again saturday night. Fine again all day sunday. Now, today, she has been sick from the moment she woke up. Headache, fever, swollen glands, the works. Whiney as a 5 year old can get. ONly wants mom, dad won't do. Whines bout medicine, but we get it down her. Now, the point of my post.

She has a slight (very mild) fever.
She has complained all day that her head hurts, reguardless of what meds we get down her.
And now, tonight, she has thrown up on me twice. Yep, on me.

Any advice from you parents out there? We have been giving her tylenol every 8 hours, and the same with advil, only they are on a four hour difference like the doctor said. The throwing up doesn't bother me, cause I think it was just that she was so worked up from crying that it happened.

What bugs me, is I can not get rid of her headache. She has spent most the day laying in a quiet darkened room, resting, taking meds, etc, and still she says her head hurts.

I am at my ropes end with patience, mostly because I myself am starting to feel sick. I need some advice, PLEASE!

Not to unduly alarm you...

But I am thinking a trip to the doctor or a call would be in order.

Northeast Ohio had a few cases of meningitis earlier this year.

Just a precautionary measure.

Whoops..didn't see the doctor reference the first time I read it. I was skimming.

Bad Bad Night --PLEASE TAKE HER TO DRS

mY manager at work just went thru same exact symptoms with her daughter, herself then her son

ALL SYMPTOMS OF A STRAIN OF MENINGITIS going around (almost epidemic here) please get checked ASAP to MAKE SURE its not that. That can be dangerous if not treated.

I dont want to alarm you, but alot of people nowadays just try to let things run its course, but the pain you describe sounds almost word for word what my manager described.

GOOD LUCK!

Wow... I hadn't even thought of it as anything worse then the flu, but now that it has been mentioned, menigitis has been going around in this area alot, and she just started school, so is more likely to be exposed to germs. I believe she will be going in tomorrow.

Thank you :)
