I know that a lot of reality shows are manipulated and edited to be more entertaining to the viewers, but I think they've become to PC. How is it that on the Bachelor, Bachelorette, and Joe Millionaire, the person choosing, always seems to choose the minority. From what I can tell there was no chemisty in any of these cases. It's as if the producers pulled them aside before the show and said, you have to pick at least one minorty so you won't look racist. It's one thing if any of the choosers seemed interested in the people they were picking, but it just seems so fixed. I would enjoy the shows just as much if the person, picked who they really wanted to. Has anyone who have watched any of these shows picked that up? Has TV become too PC?

IOW (In other words). Are you saying/asking that the contestants are choosing minorities to avoid being labeled?

Maybey they think the black chick with huge knockers is hot...
Maybey these people dont care about colour and choose people based on how nice they are?

That's a nice idea, and hopefully that is really why they chose those individuals, but after actually watching these shows, it doesn't appear that the chemistry is ever there and the "token" contestants never seem to make it past the next round. That's what's so suspicious about it.

Well if the contestants choose the "Minority" Characters only to avoid racial prejudice appearances thats just as bad aint it?

Yes, but I don't really think that they get into it that deep, as long as it makes them look good initially is what their goal is.

The producers are afraid of losing sponsors....Yeah its done to quell any kind of controversy, but if there any inkling that the "minority" contestant is in the running, affiliates in certain markets will drop the show quicker than that (snaps fingers) because it will "disturb" their audience. Its happened before.

OK, I admit I succumbed to the pressure and watched Joe Millionaire. I believe he selected two minorities, and didn't select two other minorities. He really gushed about one of the two minoirty women, so maybe he really did like her. Of course, this is my first foray into the "reality" TV stuff since the first season of Survivor (and a binge of Real World), so who knows. Maybe it's a mix - they really like some of the contestants, and they're encouraged to select others to please sponsors/demographics.
