Something you love to do that costs no, or very little, cash.

For me, I love the water, and I live near the lake, so one if my cheap thrills is to go down and walk the beach, looking for pretty pebbles and trying to skip rocks.

A thunderstorm. I love thunder and lightning. And the smell of the ground as the rain finally pours down on it. It's almost a sexual thing for me, watching a thunderstorm.

Being the first person to walk across new snow. For some reason, this never gets old to me.

Living here costs a lotta moolah, so in order to have genuine fun cheaply, you really have to be good with simple pleasures and everything you can make happen under your own steam.

During the good weather months and on my days off, making some sammies an' chilling at parks or sitting at various promenade areas in the city overlooking the East or Hudson rivers. Reading, writing, drawing in sketchbooks, contemplating my muses. iPhone gets good workouts. Never forget the portable charger.

Usually my nightly end games are at my spots, but those are divey bars and I order inexpensive most of the time. Rich drinks are made to impress others, $7 beer & tequila specials rule.

It seldom snows here. Accumulations of 5-6 inches probably averages to once every other year. I always hate to be the first to walk on the snow. It looks so beautiful and makes the world outside so quiet. Then I leave footprints and there goes the beauty.

Sit outside and read - I think I had my back porch set up and ready to go before I had any other room done.

I joined the local country club so the golf is free. I have a fishin license so the fish are free.

Although both had upfront costs, I think of them as cheap fun since the money is already gone.
