I'd like to use an avatar in my profile, but there is mention of avatars in the cp when I go there, custom or standard. Does that mean I'm simply barred from having one?

No, you need 100 posts before you can get an avatar

Now hurry up and post, because if you're AV's are gonna be anything like your profile pic, I want to see more.

(By the way, welcome to Lit!)

Thanks

I've spent the past 30 minutes trying to figure out how to create an avatar with no luck. Even after searching the FAQs. Thanks for posting this information.

It's not in the site FAQs, but it IS in our How To FAQ's - Read Before Posting Help Questions sticky(link) at the top of the main forum page, which contains answers to most questions about how to do stuff on the board. There are also instructions for searching effectively in that FAQ thread, and if you do a search on "avatar" for How To alone, you'll find a gazillion threads asking this very question, since it's brought up at least once a week on average.

When you get to a new forum within the board, it's wise to take a few minutes to look through the first few pages of threads and read any sticky threads, which are highlighted and permanently 'stuck' at the top of the forum. Most of the time, that'll give you a very good idea of what the forum's about, any special rules/guidelines and any FAQ's that the particular forum often deals with. :)

It's true that you can't put up an avatar until you have 100 posts, but you can put a picture in your signature, which amounts to just about the same thing.

And to Stormie: yes, at 1000 posts, you can customizer your title under your name......Carney

Does anything happen at any other # of posts? I have 200 now. Just curious.

Sorry about that. I trying looking in the FAQs but didn't find it. I will look on the main forum page from now on.

Thanks!
No problem. :) I'm guessing Quoll was amused like I was to see a question answered in the FAQ sticky thread after I'd posted the link to it.

For future reference, it the FAQ's - Read Before Posting... thread at the top of the main How To page: http://forum.literotica.com/forumdisplay.php?f=6

And here's the direct link to that FAQ thread (might be helpful to bookmark it): http://forum.literotica.com/showthread.php?t=358426

No worries, I was probably tired and grumpy when I replied (semi nocturnal), and yes not all FAQs are created equal.:rose:

There are SO many threads asking about avatars. If the powers that be are listening, can't we have a sticky or something stating the post count required for avatars and the stages a poster's title goes through, from virgin to literotica guru? Nobody seems to be reading the FAQs or finding this info from a cursory search.

We could just ritually sacrifice all the newbies. :D

I think the best solution would be to add some text to the AV page stating 100 posts are needed before an avatar is an option. Maybe we can petition Manu to do that?

I bet we'd still get the question even if we had a sticky devoted to it. A lot of newbies are just excited to jump right in and start their own thread, and AV's and custom titles make for an easy topic. When you look at it, we get a lot of questions that could easily be answered by taking a few minutes to observe or search.
