Autumn Valley OOC

If you know anyone who'd be interested, feel free to invite them. Let's try and get players who can post at least once a day so that we can keep the pacing between the characters even.

Sounds good. I am sliding my feelers out and see if they snag anything worth while.

Name: Samuel "Sam" Vincent
Age:28

Appearance: Roughly 6' tall, olive green eyes. His skin tone is a bit darker than is typical for the area, giving him the look of always being out of place in Autumn Valley. Sam

Personality: Sam is lighthearted and capricious. Some would call him a smartass at times but never purposefully rude or hurtful. His goal is to enjoy life and he rarely takes anything seriously. He smiles and laughs quite a bit if only at some secret amusement.

Background: Sam is a recent addition to Autumn Valley, having arrived not more than a few months previously. He has found it difficult finding a job that suits his tastes and hasn't quite managed to blend in to the Autumn Valley community. He gets by with an assortment of odd jobs. Landscaping one day, mending roofs the next, washing dishes at one of the local restaraunts as the sun goes down.

There is a bit of darkness that surrounds him that is apparent to any who can see such things. His surname is a clue to this darkness and his origins. Vincent, meaning "Son of the Dark Man of the Lake", is of irish origin as is Sam, yet he betrays no accent. His father is an ancient elemental spirit of which he knows nothing about and his mother has refused to relate to him. She deemed her tryst with the darkman an evil seduction. While loving her son the sight of him as an adult reminded her too much of the darkman and the guilt drove her to flee from him and they havent spoken for many years. Had he known his father his powers over the darkness, shadows and water would be less of a mystery to him. As it is he's wandered the world aimlessly until finally being drawn to Autumn Valley and it's annual festival.

((Hotkittygirl directed me to this game so I'd like to thank her for that. If it doesn't work out I'd like to blame her for that also :p ))

There's a touch of Neil Gaiman-esque melancholia to the character. I like it. Welcome!

Thanks alot. I look forward to Rping with you all.

Just like to throw my chip in. sounds like something i would like to do if nobody minds. Going to need a good think about character though. So much choice! I liked the look of one of the Faeries perhaps... I can also play a male character if there isn't enough of them.

Whatever you come up with, we'll just get extra players to make sure the balance is even. I was originally thinking of having half-a-dozen players, but I think we can handle up to ten.

Again, try to post at least once a day so that we can keep the pacing even and try to keep everyone on the same day. If someone drops out, I'll just open up the casting again.

haremfaery talked me into it....

I really like what I've read so far, and while I'm still hammering out a character or two one idea has come to mind.

I was thinking of a old gray bearded wizard trapped in the body of a twenty something man. However he came to the town choice wasn't involved, and he finds the place to be filled with nice people. He is without some of his abilities, but is doing research and looking for magical items. In the mean time he's running the general store/ post office with his Imps. He can still summon the little guys and has put many to work restocking the place at night. They also get into mischief around town.

Just a basic idea, but tell me what you think....

I was also kicking around the idea of running a small dinner on the road heading out of town. Popular with the locals that serves all the staples. Haven't had any thought about the owner of the place. Cool even be a different kind of establishment.

Glad to have you aboard. I like the first idea. Would cause all kinds of headaches for the Deputy with those damn imps.

We can definitely work with this. If possible, is there some kind of folk creature you can conjure up other than imps? We can still work with that, but if you can find any folk legends from New England or the Old Country that have more of a... rustic flavor for lack of a better phrase, that would be even better.

Some musical inspiration this time around.

Harvest Moon - Blue Oyster Cult
This is one of my favorite BOC songs. The lyrics are perfect. I can imagine the Draven brothers doing an acoustic remix of this for the carnival in Mason Square one night.

Ghost Riders in the Sky - Johnny Cash
Can't get much more Americana than Johnny.

Earthshine - Rush
Again, love the lyrics on this one. Also that verse riff is just fucking awesome.

Mystic Rhythms - Rush
Yes, more Rush.

Dig Up Her Bones - The Misfits
Somewhat unique Misfits song featuring a young and (I'm straight enough to admit) pretty hot Michale Graves on vocals. And yeah, I admit I had a bit of a mancrush at one point on Doyle, the guitarist. Dude's like a million feet tall!

Strange Wings - Savatage
I confess, these guys are one of my pet bands that I wish like hell had gotten the breakthrough they deserved. I pick this song for the darkly romantic lyrics. Another one I could see the Draven brothers playing an acoustic remix of.

Ladies, Gents,

HKG reccomended the thread, and just from reading through the first post and everyone's characters so far it looks like it will be interesting.

So I suppose the next question is, are you still looking to add new writers?

I think we still have room. We'll just need to make sure we bring in an extra lady or two for balance. You know, since Kitty might snap one or two of them up for herself at some point. ;)

I neither confirm nor deny this statement as truth.

Hah...indeed. A solid strategy, to plan ahead for the HKG contingency. ;)

Well, I still would need to come up with a character anyways, so I can just sort of sit on the sidelines pending the inclusion of a few more female writers, or alternatively, a drop out, whatever works for everyone else.

I'm sure we'll snag some more females before we get started. We got some time before that anyways.

Updated the first post with a roster of confirmed writers/characters. Still waiting on a few people to submit their bios. I'm going to give us a bump in the Seeking Players thread just for good measure.
